I've been happy with my MR1L, but I do have a question, the CBS station coming off of DISH broadcasts in 2 channel, I am not able to get the unit to send a signal to the center channel. I tried all the settings (I think) does anyone know if this is not possible or do I have something set wrong? It sounds fantastic with multi-channel broadcasts. Thanks

Have you tried Dolby Surround? This is an upmixer.

So when you’re playing 5.1 material do you get center channel output? As ttocs indicated, Dolby Surround is the best upmixing choice (not that you shouldn’t try others). You mention a specific CBS station, what about other stereo sources, does any upmixed stereo source give center output? How about the surrounds, do they have output? Last question, what setting do you like best?

And I will try a different stereo source today and see how it responds, that is a good suggestion that I should have tried. Thanks

I tested everything I could think of this morning, everything works fine EXCEPT for that one CBS channel, so I'm going to assume there is something different about what they are broadcasting, or DISH. I posted here mainly to make sure that I wasn't doing something stupid or missing something obvious. I appreciate the replys and suggestions! Thank you !

Could that CBS station perhaps be broadcasting in Dolby Digital 5.1 but only putting a signal in the front L and R channels?

1st of all, is this CBS station the only 2 channel "Stereo" which in it of itself is rare today, most are 5.1 but some maybe stereo. Dolby Surround or even All Channel Stereo or Multi Channel would fly just nicely on the MR1L. Note there is no Pro Logic or Pro Logic II in the deal here. I have included 2 image plates relating to the MR1L Surround options. These right from the User Manual downloadable at cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2572/6926/files/BasX_MR1L_User_Manual_v12.pdf?v=1687882059If you really want to force all channel play from a "Stereo" 2 Channel source, All Channel Stereo, or multi channel should be a no Brainer for the MR1L. At the very least. I do All Channel Stereo all the time on my XMC-1 and my Anthem Receiver in my bedroom all the time on Stereo or 2 channel sources. 2nd choice of course Dolby Surround as stated elsewhere here. Is that CBS station the only one on your DISH setup that is not outputting via your Center Channel and all other channels do? That would eliminate anything the DISH decoder is doing wrong. If all your other sources will play the Center Channel output with appropriate Stereo or Surround mode and that one channel is the only thing not, then I would say that CBS station has something odd going on.

jdinco I guess one of us should have asked this already, but, what does the MR1L reporting as the incoming signal. Please note it exactly so we don't assume something incorrectly.

I had other channels that were not playing thru the center channel early on, once I went thru the setup, a slight learning curve there, LOL, they worked properly with the Dolby Upmix. I agree totaly that they (or DISH) has something different going on with the broadcast. I do not know how to tell what they are broadcasting. Thanks to all again, a good group here!

I do not know how to tell what they are broadcasting. Thanks to all again, a good group here! Try pressing the INFO button on the remote and see what is displayed on either the front panel display or the OSD (On Screen Display) for the incoming and outgoing signals. If you can take a photo of what's on the OSD that could be helpful to figure out what's going on.

All it says is: Mode: Dolby Upmix Audio: Dolby Surround
I can live with this issue since it's isolated to one channel, but I am also curious as to what the deal is.

I am having the same issue with my new MR1. Everything looks and sounds great, except for Fubo live TV broadcast from my Roku Ultra will only output 2.1 audio. All other Roku streaming sources (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc) audio output is normal / good. I have a 5.1.2 speaker setup, EmoQ calibration and sound field set to PURE. Manually changing the mode has no effect, all modes only output 2.1 audio. MR1 display shows “H1-Roku V1 *49.5 / Dolby Atmos”.. The Fubo 4K broadcast channel(s) DOES work as expected - full 5.1.2 channels. I have second TV with a similar AV setup Roku Ultra and Emotive RMC-1L that does not have any issues - all Fubo live TV broadcasts via all audio channels. Please advise any other ideas for troubleshooting - I will update if (when) i find a solution. Thanks!

Updating my previous post on MR1 2.1 audio only problem. Troubleshooting revealed the issued was caused by one of my Roku Ultra units. It seems there are problems with some Roku units. This was confounding as I have 2 Roku Ultra units, the older unit works as expected. The newer Roku ultra was the cause of my audio problem. Big kudos to the customer support function and product development people at Emotiva. They are super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. My MR1 is working perfectly.
