XMC-2 All Channel Stereo Horrible sound

Hey ...Just got me XMC 2 and XPA 11 channel amp and i am confused why my all channel stereo is totally wacked out ...the subs is 10 times louder all of the sound is coming mostly in my surrounds and barely in my center stage (C/L/R) and when I adjust the volumes for sub , surround and hieghts  on my remote  the change in volume  is very small . This is nuts .I love to listen to all stereo most of the time and always with my music but there is no way i can set it to keep it normal like all my other sound settings are ok .I thought maybe it was my roku so i used a different device and i am getting the same thing ..I even adjusted my prests to different levels and it is the same horrible sound . Is there anything I am not doing right .I think something is wrong with the internal xmc All channel stereo mode .?All of the other modes are ok .

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a thorough walk-through with Emotiva technical support is in order… I would start there.
Hope you can straighten that out. On the XMC1 All stereo mode is my main go to for music. I would also try killing all the subs first then balance all the channels to your liking, and gradually bring the subs back in.

All Stereo has what I believe to be two problems.
First is the fact that the bass is being summed when combining Left and Right sides, no matter how many channels there are from 3 up to the max, plus subwoofer.
Second is that I believe there is a Level Reduction applied to all channels except subwoofer. This is an automatic reduction of some unknown amount, but I could guess at that, and I would think it's pretty obvious when looking at the attached plot.

I setup the system for 3.1. Left, Center, Right, and Subwoofer. The attached plot shows just 3 traces. Left channel in SURROUND Mode to show the normal response, Left channel in ALL STEREO mode, and Left + Right in SURROUND mode to show how the bass summing is the same as it is with just Left in ALL STEREO mode.

So between the summed bass and the applied reduction this results in a disparity of about 30dB which is not adjustable in a practical manner. L+R shows the +6dB summed bass when playing Left and Right channels simultaneously while in SURROUND mode, this is normal for L+R in this mode but should be accounted for and a reduction applied when coding for ALL STEREO.

That does seem to be what is happening ttocs.I just do not understandwhy all of the other modes selections are working as they should ecept the All Stereo is terrible .Do you think I should just set up another preset with lowering my subs and reset all my channel trims by ear ? .Do you think something is wrong with All Channel mode is broke as marcl said and send it back or is this normal for the xmc 2 ?

That's just the way it is, unfortunately.  ttocs reported it to Emotiva a while back.  We're hoping it gets addressed along with other Bass Management issues in the next Firmware update.

I put together a report last night and sent that info and imagery to Damon and Lonnie.

I tested using just a 3.1 setup to make things super simple and clear. Using higher channel counts had no effect on what the issues are.

I see this as two main issues:
1. Redirected Bass, BM, is too high but not by as huge an amount as the second issue.
2. Small Channels above their XO's and Large Channels are way, way, way, too low. This is the main problem.

I’m listening right now to some of my favorite ambient electronic sound music in the “all stereo mode.”

This is with the XMC1…. I have no experience yet with the XMC2. The surrounds are knocked down five DB and just used to enhance the overall effect.

This is one of my favorite listening sessions, and I would be devastated if the thing wasn’t working as it is now. It seems odd to me that the ball would be dropped on a much newer processor with such an important mode for some people at least. Hope that gets straightened out for anyone interested in using it.

My most favorite listening for all time .I hate to give it up after so many receivers i have had that worked great .This is my first ever processor .I hope they can offer advice on hot to fix it

I find it really sad that there are STILL bass management issues in the firmware.
