Upgrade UMC-1 to MR1L

Hello Friends,

I have not posted in 12 years and you can see that my Emotiva equipment has not changed in that same amount of time!
But I have enjoyed reading all of your posts for the duration. You’re all like old friends that I haven’t seen in years. 😊

I would finally like to upgrade from the UMC-1 and am considering the MR1L.
I would also like to get a center channel and run 3.1, possibly adding heights in the future.
My question is whether it would be best to keep the XPA-2s for the fronts and use the MR1L for the center?
OR Get the MR1 and eliminate the XPA-2? Not enough space for both the MR1 and the XPA2.

The Scansonics are a Borrenson design (Raidho), and have an 88db sensitivity.
The room has a vaulted ceiling and very large. About 5,000 cubic feet volume.
I will listen at loud, but not reference levels.
Listening is 50/50 music and movies.

Last question is whether the receivers are being phased out on this current promotion for a forthcoming new design?
In other words should I wait?

I would keep the XPA-2s for as long as you can. Replacing them might be disappointing. According to the MR1L specs, ONE channel driven: 150 watts RMS / channel @ 8 Ohms. For driving just the center channel, that should be sufficient.

Thanks so much for the input. Yes, I was thinking that my large space and the speakers I have would require a more robust amplifier.

Does anyone have any idea on whether the receivers are slated for changes like the upcoming processors?
I don’t change equipment often so wondering if I should wait or be looking at options like the Marantz Cinema 60.

Would there be a big difference between the DACs in the MR1L and a Marantz?
