The HDMI-ARC (though I think it lacks eARC?) input on the XDA-3 caught my eye.
I currently have a 2.0 setup with the hope of adding a sub somewhere down the line. So at most 2.1 channels.
It would seem that an XMC-2 or XMC-2+ would be way overkill for me since I don't have any surround or height channels. But I do want to maximize the sound quality coming from AppleTV, an Xbox, and the built-in TV antenna.
Is the most cost effective route for me to connect the AppleTV and XBox to my TV and then route the audio to an XDA-3 via the ARC port on the TV?
A MC1 or XMC-2 would be cool, and I could route my stuff through the pre-pro rather than the TV, but it feels like I'm just wasting money when all I care about is maximizing 2.1 SQ. I ruled out an XSP. I've been down that path before and it's difficult to get analog outputs for your modern devices.

You sound sure to me that you’re not going down the multichannel surround route, so you’ll be all set with this. …… And you’ll probably be happier than some of those guys who made Swiss cheese out of their ceilings.

I love the idea of a Dolby Atmos room with 9.1.6 but it's not realistic for the room. Nor the budget. haha. For now I'll just have to enjoy the occasional movie in Dolby Cinema at the local theater. Thanks for the help. It'll be nice to get my real speakers back into the mix. I've been using a Sonos Arc in that room for a while. Easy for everyone to use, but not exciting sound. Mark

Mark I’ve got the Sonos move…… Whenever the big system is off that’s on. Good luck.
