I generally like to leave my RMC-1L on most of the time since it takes a while to boot up.
About 50% of the time when I leave it on overnight in my home theater it loses its ability to sync with my streamer, an NVidia Shield connected to HDMI 1.
The symptom is that no matter what video stream is selected, only a few channels are active. Usually its some misc surround channel and not the mains.
If I had to bet I'd say its because I turn the streamer off overnight, then when I turn it back on again in the morning its doesn't properly reset its surround configuration on HDMI channel power up or reset.
But that's just a guess.
The only cure is to reboot the RMC-1L which is really annoying since that takes a full minute or an eternity. I can't be sure which. I've tried switching between HDMI inputs, but that doesn't fix it.
Maybe this has something to do with the HDMI CEC communications gettting screwed up.
The HDMI output is connected to a ForMovie UST projector.
(Also is there a way to use the 12v trigger to power down the amps without completely turning off the RMC-1L?)
I do appreciate the latest firmware update which makes the RMC a really useful video switching component, but I need to figure this out before I go crazy.

Sounds like an HDCP Lockup issue.
I have similar experience, but with different source which is a TiVo. The TiVo is on all the time and EXPECTS to be connected to a sink (display) that will report that it's HDCP compliant to the source, but if the sink isn't reporting then the source stops playing nice. Turning on the sink won't always work after the HDCP chain has broken down.
In my case there are more links in the chain due to usage of a Fiber Optic HDMI cable which means each end of the cable (both are active ends) are links in the HDCP chain. Everybody in the chain needs to cooperate, but it's because the source is being persistent in needing a reply that it gets wonky. My TiVo will have a fit after about 18 minutes, yes I've timed it. I could reboot the TiVo, but that can take 5 minutes, so the fix for me is to always use Lowest Power Standby for my XMC-2. My problem is my LG tv. My previous Sony tv had a setting which kept HDCP happy, my G3 LG no longer has this setting like the previous gen LG had.
Ain't HDCP grand?

I switched "Standby Mode" to video standby and it seems to have mostly cured this behavior. We'll see. It also allows me to use standby mode to remote power-off the amps without a full reboot.

I get this problem too. It is not just Shield related but also with HTPC audio over HDMI and my PS5, but less frequently with that
It is an XMC-2 issue, not a Shield one.
I get the issues with wrong speaker channels as you point out but also digital warbling in various channels. Switching from o r source to another otr toggling surround mode doesn’t fix it and zi have to do a hard boot also. I use the video remains on standby.

RMC-1 Add me to the list! I’m getting the run round around by the support team. Sending me diagrams how’s to get audio from the tuner! I’m running a 7.2 setup, I’ll lose all stereo speakers after a week or so. Watching TV and I’ve just bought a brand new 8k HDMI cable to rule it out, audio codecs will change and that’s the point I’ll lose audio. Tuner as well. Pulling the power lead always brings all audio back. It’s the SOFTWARE. I’m running the latest firmware.
