You had just one job to do. Replace my burned out lights in my kitchen. You found a bad switch. Okay you replaced it. Then you proceeded to destroy the cover plate after. Why? Also found a screw loose too. Quality is that extra minute they didn’t want to take. Explains really why I get discouraged, and don’t trust others. Doing less than your best is never allowed. If you do and fail, I back you to the very end. Do less than that. You are subject to a conversation to others why this is never allowed. I saw a server room that reminded of this kind of shoddy quality. I shared this with my team and showed a lack of quality and pride in the work is the downfall for many. If you can’t give it your best. Leave to others who can!

I of course rectified this with a nice switch wall plate. I am a happy camper now. Quality shows, and is felt. By the way click on the image for its correct orientation. Nice huh?

Wall switches are easy but sometimes they take a bit of finesse…… Once you get the switch level with the sheetrock, you can get away with almost any cover plate, but the metal ones are better easier to get them to go flush without cracking like the plastic ones…… Mostly put in initially by the builder. You never wanna be in too much of a hurry that you forgot to take a close look at the color so that you don’t come home with almond instead of white or vice versa lol. …… Then you finish and realize you have a white switch and an almond cover plate and realize that you were in too much of a hurry

Yes I used the metal one. In my first house, I went with a few of those decorative flashy switch covers but later on those things fell out of favor for me. Just the smooth metal ones the color match like you did are just fine.
