Just purchased an XDA-1 used to put into a critical listening system. I have read about the the low volume issues, so understand the issues surrounding the volume control.
What I am curious about is whether the XDA-1 can be used to trigger an amp to turn on. Was hoping to use the XDA to turn on a remote strip which turns on my amplifiers but doesn't seem to work that way. Just trying to use fewer components if they are not necessary.
Any advice is appreciated.

First of all, the XDA-1 DOES have a standard (+12V) Trigger Output, which you should be able to use to turn on anything that has a standard Trigger Input. You could also have it turn on a power strip that accepts a standard trigger input. (You just need to cut up a trigger cable, strip the wires, and connect them to the little green Phoenix input connector on the relay.)
I am not aware of any "issues with the Volume Control"... other than that some folks aren't happy with the steps we chose.
If your amplifier has a lot of gain, and so reaches full Volume while the XDA-1 is still set very low, you could add a pair of attenuators between the XDA-1 and the amp. (Fixed analog "bullet" attenuators are about $25 a pair and will not significantly degrade the audio signal.)

So, when I take the XDA1 out of standby, it should send a 12v trigger signal out with out any trigger signal input?
