Emotiva has long been out of my price range(as most stuff is these days) especially being I'm in Canada, now a 60% price increase on the XMC-2 bahahaha, this world is going berserk

True enough but I felt that with all the new information, there may be a need for a new beginning. This is the ( + ) series which is basically a new processor with a couple of older parts remaining. I am not saying that this is a bad thing, it’s not.

The thought of being able to junk (aka trade-in) my XMC-2 processor and finally get something that works as intended. Then I remind myself that this is a case of: "Fool me once (XMC-1) , shame on Emotiva. Fool me twice (XMC-2), shame on me. Fool me THRICE (dreams of a glitch free + hardware and firmware), shame on me plus shame on Emotiva yet again." (I had an XMC-1 which took 5 years to get to a proper working-as-expected state by which time it was practically defunct due to AV standards leaving it behind, then an XMC-2 which still doesn't work fully after 5 years and despite fanboy protestations, we mostly simply tolerate our units for when it doesn't fail to function properly. We are all seeing this theme, right?)

The risk to reward equation for me only really makes sense if they finally deliver on 11.x.8 and that would be a great layout for Dirac ART. Now that some main stream competition is coming in for similar functions like 9.4.6 with ART makes it a harder decision however Emotiva still seems like its a value proposition if they can manage to bring us stability. I would hope that 3rd time is the charm for bringing us stability through a Linux based system. I imagine or at least hope they have been finding out the hard way how they have been doing it wrong and learn.

Anyone who is acting like it’s a privilege to pay $600 to upgrade to the +, I think it could be seen as a little dramatic don’t you think? It’s a free country but I think all of us have nothing to lose with this upgrade. Then we can decide if this is it or continue… DLBC or not, the upgrade to a way faster processor is worth it. Also the being on track for June doesn’t mean we can upgrade right away if memory serves me correctly. There was at least a 3 month waiting period for the XMC-1 to XMC-2 upgrade (I didn’t upgrade because I sold my XMC1 a year before so I was able to purchase the XMC2 on day 1).

I would hope that 3rd time is the charm for bringing us stability through a Linux based system. The XMC-1 had a Linux OS, as does G3P. The Plus models " with 10X the power and speed of the previous generations" should help shorten the boot time.

Stable/fast software ? 2. Advanced Dolby Atmos ✓ 3. DTS:X Pro ✓ 4. XLR output expansion modules (including SW) ? 5. Stable HDMI 2.1 switching ? 6. Dirac DLBC ? 7. Dirac ART ? I would be ecstatic to have 1-6. 7 would be icing on the cake.

I see more and more receivers with DLBC so I may do a receiver and 2 ch preamp for best 2 ch sound and decent movie sound quality. At this rate, we may be talking about an early 2024 upgrade timeframe…just listened to an hour of music w the xmc2. It’ll do 😬. Zero issues.

If I'm not eligible to upgrade my 2nd hand GP3 XMC-2, it's not going to be worth squat on the 2nd hand market due to all the bad publicity and reviews regarding its stability so I may aswell just keep it as a 2ch pre-amp. Maybe this is intentional?

We’ve had a thread to discuss the G4P “+” series for over a year, why when it’s not yet released do we need another? Have you read the first two posts here—> xmc-rmc-processors-next-generation

We’ve had a thread to discuss the G4P “+” series for over a year, why when it’s not yet released do we need another? Have you read the first two posts here—> xmc-rmc-processors-next-generationAnd a good morning to you! I went looking for the RMC-1+ moniker and found nothing. Seems I’ve stepped on toes, but without malice. You always post great information and are always helpful. What to do now? I can not offend those that have posted here by deleting it but will ask that it be locked by the authorities. Last post should direct folks to your thread. Hopefully the link will work after it’s locked. One thing you must ponder is that newer lounge members will come to the lounge looking for the “RMC-1+” etc and won’t find it, thats why I titled it as such. For more details and in depth information use link below. XMC … RMC … G3P … G4P? Processors — The Next Generation
