Since there haven't been any objective reviews yet, I'm hesitant to jump head-first into what seems to be such a radical design for a center. I'm not too concerned about typical lobing and whatnot since it is mainly just me in a single listening position, but I can't help but wonder if there would still be some weird directivity issues with the tweeter and mid range being so offset in the speaker since I sit about 7-8 feet away. Can anyone give me some peace of mind?

XC-1 at 26" MAY be able to be oriented as a 'tower'. I think the tweeter can be oriented 90 degrees to make the dispersion right. I'd place on a short (no more than 12") stand, maybe......have to LISTEN.
No such thing as an 'objective' review. All are cooked in one fashion or another. Don't believe ANY of 'em unless you are very familiar with the reviewer and his or her bias or other views.....
Pick a well reviewed speaker. Some are good and others are bad reviews. All based on the predisposition of the reviewer. One guy loves Klipsch and though the newish Forte IV was a best buy.
Another guy gets all bogged down in measurements and never was a Klipsch fan in the first place.....
