Is there a way to turn on some kind of late night mode where the bass and highs are slightly attenuated? I don't know my way around an EQ too well, so maybe someone else has done something like this? On my old Onkyo, there is a button and the ranges are changed. It's nice to be able to just toggle it on/off but I don't think there is anything on the Emotiva that does that as far as I can tell.

It would seem....that at low to very low levels, your nearing would want more....not less....bass and treble. In the dim dark past, many pre amps and receivers (those were the choices in 1980?) had a LOUDNESS switch. When engaged ('on') it would boost both bass a treble a few DB. Specs varied. No longer an included feature don't think? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_compensationIf you are concerned with actual OUTPUT? An old school 'graphic equalizer' would work, at a cost to ultimate sonics.

Not sure about the latest ATMOS equipped iterations. I’ll give you the main reason it’s useless and that’s having a subwoofer tied in…… When the compensation kicks in the subwoofer floods over everything. Shut that off when you’re compelled to use compensation.

Is there a way to turn on some kind of late night mode where the bass and highs are slightly attenuated? Yes, sort of. You've got direct buttons on the remote for controlling the level of some channels. The ones that control the subwoofers are SW+ and SW-, and these are temporary trims which will reset when the processor is turned off. This will let you reduce the subwoofer output which will attenuate bass, but there isn't a really quick way like this to reduce treble. Another way to adjust for bass and treble is in the EQ area, which you've already stated is not something you're looking for, and this is not quick, but, does seem to offer Manual EQ for three separate Presets. Your manual doesn't show what's available for this, but there might be something similar to what's available in my processor such that Bass and Treble are adjustable beyond a threshold you can adjust, like, below 100Hz and above 10,000Hz, which are the default values mine starts with and are totally adjustable. This would then allow you to select a Night Mode for less bass and treble. Reducing the bass will probably get you most of the way to not disturbing others late at night.

AGAIN, ? Back to the past.
Some receivers and pre amps had a 'Tape Monitor' circuit. So you could listen to a tape while doing something else.....I used mine with a 3-head R-2-R machine so I could compare the recording to the source......
This was a pair of outputs switched by the source switch OR in some cases, the OTHER (my NAD had 2 such) Tape Monitor circuit. You could record from a CD player to the input of #1 TO a Cassette deck into #2.
Hook your equalizer into that circuit.....than do your preset. Late at nite? Just 'engage' the tape monitor circuit for instant EQ.....

Thank you for the suggestion. Is there some place that I could read / see more about setting up the custom preset? I can give it a try, I just like to read up on how to's before doing technical stuff.
