Hi
so i got some issues.
1: i can not get the arc/earc to work from my 4K Samsung TV. am i not supposed to connect arc from tv to arc on the XMC-2 ? the cable is 8 or 10 meter long and was bought as a "quality" cable, can it be the cable that do not support arc ? i can watch 4K material so that part works :-)
2: I cant get the surround to work. I have my speakers setup as a 7.1 system in the room and also configured the XMC-2 as a 7.1. Problem is that i cant get it to play 7.1 it only plays 5.1 and it does that without the back speakers so i dont get the surround effect :-(
A 7.1 signal plays in 5.1 i can't see on the frontpanel display that it is other than 5.1 signal. An Atmos signal is input and shows in the display, i still have a non working surround. almost no sound from the back speakers.
i know the speakers are working i have run Dirac and can see the file name in the equalizer menu.
all speakers were calibrated to -20 db + - 1 db when running the Dirac calibration.
i cant figure this one out :-(
Any suggestions what i am doing wrong ?
\\Thomas

For eARC you must: 1. Connect the HDMI eARC ports on the TV and the XMC-2 together. 2. Enable CEC in the XMC 3. Select eARC in the Setup > Inputs > ARC Select. 4. Enable eARC in you Samsung TV. On my LG I have to enable CEC and then enable eARC in another section of the settings. CEC will likely go by some different name in the TV. Maybe Anynet on the Samsung? 5. Select the proper speaker output device in the Samsung TV. On my LG it's the Sound Out setting 6. Select the HDMI ARC input on the XMC. If this doesn't work, try disconnecting the HDMI cable and then turn off and physically unplug the power cord of the TV and switch off the power AT THE REAR of the XMC for a minute or two. Reconnect everything and try again. This is the only way to insure a complete new handshake between devices.
For the surround issue have you tried going into Settings > Speakers > Preset x (the preset you have all speakers setup in) > Levels and play the tones for your speakers? Do you get a tone in the rear speakers? If so, what is the name of the speakers on the XMC when they are playing?

So i finaly got the ARC to work. i changed the cable also i tried a Dirac calibration again and got a better result this time. combined with a couple db higher levels on the sur and sur back speakers i got a much better sound.
