Yeah, he’s been gone for awhile (I didn’t know), but I’m sitting here with tears running down my face, not only because of the loss of Eddie Van Halen, with his perpetual s**t-eating grin, but also because of all the young people hearing “Jump” for the first time. Sic transit Gloria Mundi!

10/06/2020….
Always had a love-hate relationship with that band. Enjoyed a lot of their music, but my stock in them dropped huge when they proceeded to do their “who“ Imitation and started to trash their instruments on stage. This was At a New Jersey performance At the Meadowlands Arena. 50,000 there at least that day who knows I don’t care my wife and I walked out.

I think now all is forgiven lol that happened every bit of 41 years ago to my recollection somewhere around 1983?

all the young people hearing “Jump” for the first time. I hope they never hear David Lee Roth's 2006 version of Jump with a Bluegrass band. I first saw it on late night TV. I thought it was going to be a joke, but it was real. It made me cringe. youtu.be/IxPi1pA5SYo?si=rKekzODx1bnWesXk

Saw VH twice, both with DLR. Mean Streets (LA Forum) and 1984 (San Diego Sports Arena) Tours. Both times DLR was hammered. He was so drunk he forgot the words for “Hot For Teacher.” While it was cool to see Alex do the intro twice and I thought the rest of the band was great, DLR sucked and pretty much ruined the shows. I’m a much bigger Sammy fan.

The day that Eddie passed, I had my own Van Halen marathon/tribute. I still fit into my 1979 Van Halen World Tour concert T-shirt I do have to say that have seen Van Halen four times, all with DLR and I was lucky enough to not have a bad show.

1984 was one of my first LPs. I equally enjoyed Van Halen and Van Hagar
