Memorial Day - THANK YOU VETERANS

Recently a local organization asked people what Memorial Day meant to them.  Their were replies covering a wide range of feelings/thoughts.  Many did acknowledge those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice.  But some of them were offensive to me; one of the most offensive was a comment about "Memorial Day is meant to memorialize the start of summer and having summer parties."  Hard to believe this was an actual reply.

My reply was a little different.  My reply was similar to the below (this states it better than I did and was copied from this link: poemverse.org/poems-about-memorial-day/).

                Memorial Day is a solemn occasion that allows us to honor and remember the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to our country. It is a time to reflect on their sacrifices, pay tribute to their courage, and express our gratitude.

Would like to end this post with a BIG thank you to my co-worker John.  What John did went well above and beyond what was asked of him and involved many hours of mowing at our local cemeteries.

I would like to add my Thank You also to our cherished Veterans…..
My brother traveled to Normandy this week to visit those places of ultimate sacrifice and resting place….. In Paris today then headed home tomorrow.
