I've a Yamaha RX-V6A. Yesterday, when I turned it on, it said it needed a firmware update. OK... I tried updating via both network & USB: No dice - Now the AVR won’t power on. I used instructions from: usa.yamaha.com/support/updates/58063_en.html They say, specifically: 1. Unplug the AC power cable from wall outlet. 2. Insert the USB thumb drive which has the firmware data stored inside, into the USB port located on the front panel. 3. Press and hold the INFO key and keep it pressed while you plug the AC power cable back into the wall outlet again… WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS? NEITHER THE FRONT PANEL OF THE RX-V6A NOR THE REMOTE HAVE ANY KEY LABELED “INFO” Further instructions are moot since I have no INFO key. I used Yamaha’s online chat help – UNHELPFUL! I was told that the instructions are accurate, and I only needed to follow them. What rubbish! Now I have to wait 24-48 hours for a "second level tech" to call me. And there's no guarantee that even they can fix it. A factory reset is impossible since the AVR won't power on. And if I DID get a factory reset, I'd lose all the customization I've spent hours doing - ARC, Room Correction, Internet Radio, etc. etc. etc. Oh well...

Turns out, for a Yamaha to be updated via USB stick, the stick must be formatted MS-DOS (FAT) - not EXFAT as mine was. Of course, it would have been nice had Yamaha notified us of that...
In any case, update installed - everything working as it should.

I connected it to my WiFi and was informed there was a new update. Update installed without a glitch. I actually took all my equipment out of the boxes and made sure everything was working properly since I packed it all up and moved it from Kali to Texas. So far no issues. Hopefully it all gets moved to the new crib in November or December. But, since I’ll have a bunch of stuff to do in the new dedicated media room it won’t get used for some time yet. Can’t wait to get everything set back up.
