Greetings all,
I have a pair of T-Zero+ speakers as mains in my 2.1 system (with an RSL 10" sub). I use a TA-1 amp currently & have a question:
- would it be a significant audible improvement to add the A2 amp using the TA-1 as a pre-amp? Or would the sound improvement be negligible? It would be a significant increase in power to the 4 ohm T-Zero speakers
It's a significant investment for me- so I'm wondering if it will be worth it in terms of improved sound quality.
(I really enjoy the sound I get- but you know audio people- always looking for ways to increase the quality).
Would love to hear thoughts on the idea.
Thank you!

I would say don't bother, the difference wouldn't be very noticeable IMO, the TA-1 especially running a sub should easily power the TO

Thanks, Chad- I appreciate your input. That big jump from 100w to 250w I thought might- or might not- have an impact. I’ll put that purchase on hold for the time being if it’s not going to affect the sound appreciably.

Yeah the TA-1 is already a great amp, Emotiva does have the 30 day window to try yourself if you are curious, if anything down the road a speaker change may be a better option, the T0 are good but they are on the smaller side, it depends on many factors, your hearing, the room, how loud or not loud you listen, maybe try them if you are really curious ??
100 to 200 watts has the potential to add 3db in loudness but like I mentioned(who am I haha) I can't see the T0 needing a crazy amount of power
Cheers, Chad

GW68, I waited for this to pretty much settle out.
IMO? You need better watts not more. Speaker is of reasonable sensitivity and with the exception of 'special' needs, should be
ok with 150 TOPS......
My recommendation would be IF you like the TA-1 feature set but may want more power and better?
I'd look at the OUTLAW RR2160. This is the retro receiver and is highly regarded. Real power is substantially above the TA-1, a bout 3db.
I think its a shame that receivers are mostly gone. The advantages for some outweigh any liabilities.
