Hello everyone,
I have an XMC-1 (the rest of my equipment is listed in my signature), and have been mostly pleased with it. I'm moving out of the United States soon, and would like to upgrade the processor before I do. I'm 95% music, but the upgrade that I am after is 4K compatibility for the times that I do watch my 4K Blu-ray discs. With my goals being primarily music BUT also adding the 4K capability, what is everyone's recommendation on an upgrade? XMC-2, RMC-1L, or RMC-1? Is there any link to details about the trade-in programme?
Thank you for your feedback.
Cheers, Nathan Zachary

The timing may not be right for you, but I’d wait for the plus models, like the XMC-2+. Per your requirement it has 4K (as does the current XMC-2). It also has HDMI 2.1 and while you might never need 8K, it has eARC (which the newest XMC-2 also has), and other features that may mate better with a current model 4K TV, and UHD discs, though the newer audio enhancements will mostly benefit immersive formats (Atmos / DTS:X). When we’ll actually see the new models is uncertain. That said, there are good prices on the current XMC-2 (which I’d get unless you’re into the esthetic of the RMC’s), and as noted they have 4K and eARC. This thread is about the G4P Plus models, the first two posts have a lot of background, and links to the original upgrade page. G4P ‘Plus’ Upgrade Thread

Thank you AudioHTIT for the recommendation. I think that the XMC-2 (current version) sounds like the best for my needs and wants. I called Emotiva today to see what they might be able to offer me as a trade-in for my original XMC-1. I'm hopeful that they will get back to me tomorrow so that I can upgrade before moving in late October. Again, I appreciate you taking the time to help me. Cheers, Nathan Zachary

I may be a day late and a dollar short, but if I were you, I would buy an HDFury device which splits 4K video and audio so you can send the video directly to your 4K tv and the audio to your XMC-1. Actually, even cheaper, most 4K disc players have two HDMI outputs and one usually can be set to deliver audio only to a non-4K audio processor. I assume you are going to buy a new 4k tv.
