The intent of this thread is for discussion about DLBC, Dirac Live Bass Control. Emotiva +Series processors will have DLBC soon. Other brands currently have DLBC. Helpful discussion related to DLBC regardless of brand is welcome in this thread as it relates to DLBC and its benefits, usage, and limitations.
I suggest to all interested parties to search out forums such as those with Marantz/Denon owners as well as Storm owners. Please, no Trinnov discussion here as they don't use Dirac.
DLBC isn't perfect and does have limitations. So, plusses and minuses. In my opinion DLBC has many more benefits than not.
I think having a dedicated DLBC thread, at least for now, is warranted to keep discussions about it from gumming up the other threads. Maybe at some point we may need to have a fresh Dirac Live thread for the new generation processors as they will be physically different in operation of Dirac, as well as having the option for DLBC.
Please, helpful dialogue, constructive sharing of information related directly to DLBC, is what this thread is about.

Here is a question I have specifically about DLBC. If you just the 3 subs in either model, do they calibrate independently/directionally as competitor systems do. I am not happy with my current bass implementation with multiple sub placements. Wondering if better software will help. I brought this over here for a discussion that stands a good chance of expanding into something beyond what we experienced at EmoFest. I have a question into Emotiva to clear up how the three default Subwoofer Outputs in the +Series processors will be treated by DLBC. Waiting for a response. Everyone at EmoFest was using x.5.x as the nomenclature for how many subs there will be when using one Subwoofer Expansion Module. My question is about what happens with just the initial 3 Subwoofer Outputs, Left/Right Subs and Center Sub? With respect to how DLBC treats subwoofers, it measures each one independently, then will combine them as prescribed in the Dirac Live Bass Control interface using Groups and such. Regarding "Directionally", Directional is a word used in the Marantz manual. Subwoofer Mode When you are using multiple subwoofers, set the audio to be output from the subwoofer.
Standard (Default): All subwoofers output LFE signals and bass below the crossover frequency of all the speakers.
Directional: All subwoofers output LFE signals. In addition, each subwoofer outputs bass below the crossover frequency of speakers that are placed near them.I'm unclear if this is just how Marantz settings are done in general, but the info above is from the Marantz manual, not from Dirac. So I really don't know how to answer for this one, yet.

Just wanted to post this link I put in the other thread a couple weeks ago and just again the the G4P thread. My understanding -- to our benefit -- is that there's only one license for DLBC, regardless of how many subs you have. DLBC Link
