With my little DAP connected to my car it sounds consistent. No drops. Always play what I want. Not what the broadcast plays what it wants. I am with Keith that the sound garbage too. MP3 crap. Granted the car is not the best to be that critical, but at what you’re paying should be better. Also my DAP is tiny that take anywhere, anytime. Can’t take XM Sirius everywhere. Not that I would want too.

XM is fine in my car. I've also used it at home and the sound quality is quite acceptable. It's not crap. Having listened to most of these services over the years, I put Qobuz first, followed by Tidal, Apple Music....again, this is my opinion and subjective of course.

Always play what I want. Not what the broadcast plays what it wants. ...Can’t take XM Sirius everywhere. Not that I would want too. Actually, I totally don't want to always play what I want. I want to hear what the broadcast wants to play on certain stations. That's how I expand my horizons. Thanks to a key subset of XM channels that I mentioned earlier, I've discovered dozens of new artists I really like just this year alone! And, given I have Tidal, I can use that to play just what I want...but I rarely do that in the car. I use that more at home. Regarding "can't take Sirius everywhere"...what? I can. I use the app on my phone, so anywhere I get a cell phone signal or wifi - I can take Sirius with me. My car doesn't even have an XM receiver in it, but XM is almost always on. Regarding the sound...mine sounds great...not MP3 quality for sure. I was just rocking out to it on the way home from the gym, and it sounded great. Not sure what equipment you were listening to when it sounded like MP3, but in any case..."Your mileage may vary..." Mark

I will second Mark, on finding new artists on Sirius. They have quite a few "app only channels" that are really fun to explore. For instance I'm really into "Y'all-ternative". I've found about a dozen new, or obscure artists on there alone. Its full of that country/punk and country psychedelia type stuff that you just don't hear elsewhere. Even Tidal fails to suggest any of those artists for me.

Interesting and maybe I missed it but I did not see any comments about the quality of audio from Sirius. Many autos now have amazing audio system from the factory. I have heard Sirius several times and thought the quality of audio was horrible.

I explore at home, and take my favorites on my travels. Just curious - how do you "explore at home"? I mean - I know people can do various searches, but...what is your approach? Do you search various sites for artists or genres or...? Or just listen to certain sources and say "I like that...I'll add it to my playlist" With my approach, in the past several years, I found so many artists I'd never heard of and now really enjoy...like, Red Clay Strays, The Moss, The Secret Sisters, The Revivalists, Munya, Sasami, LCD Soundsystem, Fontaines DC, Haim, Suki Waterhouse, Dehd, Soccermommy, Father John Misty, Men I Trust, Future Islands, Blondshell, Real Estate, Mannequin Pu$$! (not spelled out in full for obvious reasons...), Wishy, Waxahatchee, Goth Babe, The National, The Last Dinner Party...and "much, much more..." I even discovered older music I'd not heard via Little Steven's Underground Garage (an XM channel). Same goes for listening to Theodora Richards' show "Off the Cuff" (she's Keith's daughter and has an encylopedic knowledge of music - like her Dad). Great show - listen if you can. I get those while listening in my car or via my phone through earbuds as I work out. I don't have to search for anything...I just tune in and listen. Mark

I can't tell the difference between it and Tidal in those cases. However, through my home system, I'd guessing I'd be disappointed, but have never tried it.

I had it several years ago and wasn't at all pleased with the audio quality either... To me it just sounded like run-of-the-mill compressed audio... better than Internet radio but not as good as a CD... and not as good as HD FM. (And the sound system in my car at the time was good but not what I would call "super revealing".) Interesting and maybe I missed it but I did not see any comments about the quality of audio from Sirius. Many autos now have amazing audio system from the factory. I have heard Sirius several times and thought the quality of audio was horrible. Mark

That is easy. Yeah everywhere from everyone, and always asking people what is the new hotness. I get more from all my personal channels than I can get from another sub service I don't need.

I can't say why, but the current home internet app version (7.10.5) of SiriusXM actually sounds excellent - depth, soundstage, presence, etc on my carefully assembled system....
And, often their "dj" folks are very knowledgable, at least in the jazz realm....
And it's "free" with my car subscription, which to my ears is quite good too.
Try it out...
