Keith, is there any way to control the dynamic volume on tv commercials? The volume goes through the roof when commercials switch from the regular program. thanks mike

The short answer is... sort of... but not really. Unfortunately there are far too many variables... and I don't know of anything that really helps this situation consistently. On the MC1 (and MR1) There is a setting under Trims | Options called DRC (which is Dolby Dynamic Range Control). You can try the other settings... and you may find them beneficial with some content... (Although most people think it sounds pretty bad.) To horribly oversimplify things... * Dolby and DTS content bitstreams can include a number that specifies their "relative loudness". * DRC can use this number to enable it to "level the overall volume" (compress the dynamic range) * this can be useful, for example, when you want dialog to be more audible, but loud sounds reduced, when listening late at night One problem is that this setting is embedded in the content... So, if your streaming provider is playing a movie, which has this level set, that setting may not be set in the commercials. So, if you turn DRC ON, it may compress the program content, but NOT compress the commercials. (There are a lot of unknowns in terms of who is encoding what... where, when, and how... and how they have things set.) Another problem is that the commercials may not actually BE louder... because their peak level, or even average level, may be the same. They may simply have been deliberately "upward compressed" or otherwise "designed" so that they SOUND louder. And, in many cases, it may be impossible to limit this, without totally ruining the dynamics of the program itself. (Most programs are recorded to allow room for dynamic peaks at certain points...which means they are quieter the rest of the time... a commercial has no such "need".)
