Cannot get Dirac Live software to recognize RMC-1L

I am no longer able to get my laptop to see the RMC-1L when I boot Dirac Live. It has worked for years but now it does not work. I activate the Dirac Live Enable box in the RMC-1L menu, but the laptop cannot see it. I have had to turn off the power toggle several times and turn it back on because the RMC-1L locks up. I cannot back out of the Enable menu. I click the menu button on the remote a bunch of times and the menu turns off, but when I turn the menu back on, the Enable box is no longer ticked.

Please let me be sure I understand correctly.

After checking the Enable Box, you leave the RMC-L alone and go directly to use the computer with Dirac on it, correct?

If you try to back out of the Menu after checking the Dirac Enable Box, this will defeat being able to use Dirac at all.
