I just received a new to me XMC-1 with the V3 board.
When I took it out of the box, it worked fine. Since it came to me from someone else and there were obviously settings applied, I figured it best to do a factory reset and start over.
Since then, when I turn it on, there is no audio.
Accidentally, I discovered if I go to Setup -> Speakers -> Presets -> Equalization, it'll play a test tone in one of the speakers and after that audio works fine.
Anyone else run into this issue? I'm hoping there's some setup item I need to fix since it was initially working without this weird workaround.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Mark I'm not sure about the XMC-1 but my XMC-2 used to do that early on ... sometimes only the left front would not work until I went into the Levels and played the test noise. It doesn't do that anymore. Clearly some code and design aspects passed from XMC-1 to XMC-2 with some bugs persisting. But the odd thing about these units is that not everyone has the same symptoms. You were right to do the Factory Reset, but it is odd that it worked before. Maybe check to see if you have the final version of firmware installed. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/56432/current-version-xmc-firmware-2020

I did verify that I have 5.15 so that appears to be the latest.
Maybe I should try another factory reset?
I see emotiva likes to have you call for troubleshooting, so I’ll have to see if I can carve out some time during their hours.
Another thing I haven’t tested is whether this does this if I run my HDMi through the inputs rather than ARC. It wouldn’t be ideal, but that is a workaround I could possibly live with.

I'm a little bit confused by your last sentence... The HDMI/ARC *OUTPUT* on the processor gets connected to the HDMI/ARC *INPUT* on the TV. (The ARC audio then travels "back down the HDMI video cable" from the TV to the processor.) You also have to select "ARC" as your audio output on the TV... And you have to select HDMI-ARC as your audio source on the XMC-1... And "HDMI-CEC" *MUST" be enabled on both (or else ARC will not work). There are a variety of reasons why ARC sometimes simply doesn't work... But this is your starting point. I did verify that I have 5.15 so that appears to be the latest. There are a variety of reasons why ARC sometimes simply doesn't work... But this is your starting point. My last sentence was in reference to instead of running all my devices directly to the TV and passing audio back to the XMC-1 via ARC, hooking them up directly to the XMC-1 and eliminating ARC from the equation to see if that resolved the sound bug. All those things you identified are how things are set up. I was away today and didn’t get a chance to try a second factory reset or running AppleTV directly into the XMC-1 rather than taking the ARC route. To Summarize: TCL TV sees the XMC-1 as a CEC connection and audio output is set to ARC. XMC-1 is on the HDMI ARC input. HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI Output 2 (ARC) port on the XMC-1 side and to the ARC input HDMI port on the TCL. Front speakers are activated on the XMC-1 and set to large. Main Zone enabled, Zone 2 disabled. Mark
