Web UI/AVR Configuration: You can still use the PR-1 remote that came with your RMC-1+/XMC-2+/RMC-1L+ to setup your processor or you can now use the Web UI feature that Emotiva calls, AVR Configuration. To get started, if you already know your G4Ps network IP Address, simply enter that IP address(ex. 192.168.xxx.xxx) into your laptop/desktop/iPad/cell phone's browser of choice, ie: Firefox, Edge, Chrome, Safari, and press enter. If you don't already know your processors network IP address, use your PR-1 remote and goto: Menu --> Setup --> Network --> IP Address.

The moderators decided to open this thread since there are now several new G4P owners enjoying their units. Please do keep this thread ON-TOPIC, especially since this is early on in the G4Ps product life and having to weed through these posts can be quite irritating. The moderators will be keeping a close eye and deleting OFF-TOPIC posts. There are threads specifically for the Trade-IN and CR8 Upgrade processes, so please direct these posts to those specific threads. There is already a specific “Dirac Live” thread so please take those posts there. For now, the latest firmware download v5.2(this is only for the G4P/Plus models and is not meant for G3P use), is located on the Emotiva website, link above in the first post is available. I’m guessing KeithL will want to start using the Firmware section of the Lounge(like he has with past products)to post new firmware once they release the next firmware update. If there is something that you think may need to be added to the first page, let us know, otherwise we will be adding necessary information there in the future so it’s easy to find. Just a reminder, the Lounge Rules of Etiquette apply here so let’s keep our posts civil and act like adults. Also I’ve stickied this thread so it appears at the top of the Processors section for now so it can be easily found. Sooooooo, Let’s get started!!!

I believe it's been said that the 5.2 firmware file is the same physical file for + processors as well as CR8 ... but also will be the same physical file to update the G3P processors, as it will distinguish which processor is doing the update. Is this correct?
And ... is it fair to say that G3P owners should NOT at this time attempt to install the 5.2 firmware ... instead, wait until there is a formal announcement that it is approved for G3P.
And ... when that happens, perhaps the existing RMC-1 / RMC-1L / XMC-2 Owners Thread (Post Firmware v3.xx) will be the place to discuss 5.2 on G3P?

The firmware that is posted on the Emotiva website and link provided in the first post is NOT FOR USE WITH THE G3Ps and could brick a G3P, so do not load this provided firmware in a G3P. A firmware for the G3Ps is still in beta and is not the same firmware or even the same size as the latest firmware for the G4P/Plus models. When a public version for the G3Ps is available, look for it in the "Firmware" section of the Lounge, and in the G3P owners thread. emotivalounge.proboards.com/board/219/firmware

Yesterday I went to the local AMC IMAX to see “Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning”(yes I highly recommend it). The night before i chose to watch the 4K UHD- Blu-ray “MI: Dead Reckoning pt1” as a refresher. I tell you this as i believe the new G4Ps have upped their game sound-wise, and the combination of new boards(particularly ECC-2 and 8K/HDMI 2.1 board(QMS capable), along with having the new Dolby and DTS code have taken my home theater experience to the next level. I don’t remember Dead Reckoning being so enveloping, and my subwoofers being as tactile with the G3Ps, and this was without the use of Dirac Live. My experience with the CR8 upgrade has proven it is a no-brainer upgrade and i would easily go this route again.

Exactly the feedback I was looking for from the upgrade options experience - thanks

Does the 2+ now have onboard Bluetooth or do we still need a dongle or whatever? I didn't notice it on the product page. I have one on the way.

REW Wranglers Only ... everyone else please have a beverage and listen to some tunes Since there are now probably several dozen + processors singing in the wild I have a question for those who measure. I specifically would like to know if by measurement - not just perception - anyone sees any issues with the following: - New Dirac filters loading and active immediately after calibration and download
- Small speaker behavior at the crossover frequency, specifically any unexpected deep cancelations at the crossover to the subs
- Use of crossovers higher than 120Hz
- LFE response above 80Hz
- Changes in any of these behaviors (or others) after an Input change, Preset change, Levels adjustment, any use of the AVRC (i.e. either the sudden appearance or disappearance of a particular anomaly after any of these actions)
I have conclusively verified and reported some issues, but I have not seen other reports. Sometimes you don't know there's an issue until you see it in a measurement ... and you don't realize it's audible until you fix it.
For example ... I have a 5.1 recording of a string quartet and the cello is positioned near but not IN the right surround. When I first boot the processor I measure a deep cancelation at the 80Hz crossover in the surround channels. The cello sounds thin on the low end. I switch to the other Preset and back again and remeasure, and the 80Hz dip is gone. The cello sounds normal. I verified by looking at the Impulse Response that when the 80Hz dip is present, the impulses of the surround channels are no longer aligned with the other channels (i.e. delay values are incorrect, or impulse response filters are not properly loaded). When the 80Hz issue is corrected, the impulse responses are aligned.
We've heard lots of positive comments about the sound of the + processors, and I agree my system has never sounded better. These are perceptions - and valid - but there is no actual way to correlate whether the difference is firmware, hardware, Dolby codecs, Dirac implementation ... whatever. There are also some measurable anomalies .... and I think it's very important that they are reported and addressed ... more voices and validation of issues will ensure timely remediation. THANKS!

My 9 year old Marantz 8802a just bit the dust… It was a solid performer but I never liked the stereo mode. It was actually subpar compared to my earlier Marantz processor in that respect. Just ordered a XMC-2+. Hoping to be as impressed with my first Emo Processor as I have been with my other Emotiva products. 🤞

Has anyone had issues that when finished up using the AVR configurator that the volume is locked? It also seems that functionality is reduced. Seems to me that some functions lock to prevent damage but the connection is not consistently broken when the browser is closed. It does not seem everyone as I thought I solved it but it has happened again and only a full reboot provided functionality.
Another issue that I have had is setting up triggers and defining for what inputs. Any changes made in the avr configurator do not save to the processor. Making changes using osd function correctly.

I was wondering why in the manual it shows a WiFi option to check the box but i didn't see it in the menu setup. Do you know when they plan on adding that?

WiFi should work fine with the web app but WiFi isn't active yet. How does that crockpot sound with Dolby Atmos? Do you need a bunch of them?
