The Emotiva SS-6 Center Channel Speaker Stand arrived in perfect condition. It was packaged in an extremely professional manner as all Emotiva products have been that I have purchased. The stand is extremely attractive with that classy subtle satin understated finish that Emotiva does so well. It is a perfect match for my ERM-1 center channel speaker. The standoffs are a soft silver satin aluminum that matches the front panel end plates on my XPA-5 and ERC-1, very classy. The protective padding under and on top of the standoffs is non-obtrusively thin but very effective. The fit for the ERM-1's is dead on perfect, either with or without the speaker grille. How does the SS-6 sound? Well, when I rapped my knuckles against it, I heard a beautiful clean and defined thud! It sounded similar to the high end thud I get when I rap my knuckles against my wife's bamboo cutting board. Aso! ;D For my room the 8 degree slope might be a little much. However, a small shim under the front two standoffs will handle that, no problem. I'm sure someone (not me) will eventually ask if there will be a black finished version of the standoffs to match the black amp end plates. Of course I wouldn't touch that subject with a ten foot XLR cable. That said, if it is considered, put my name first on the pre-order list. ;D Emotiva has produced another winner with the SS-6! If the speaker stands are anywhere near the quality and class of they SS-6, they will be flying of the shelves. One again I am a very pleased customer of a very fine Emotiva product. Thanks Emotiva. ;D ;D ;D (permanent mounting to mantel later) (Postscript: There was no section for Emotiva Accessory Reviews so the members of the Nut-house decided to place it here.....note, the photos from my camera make the ERM-1 appear almost square rather than a more rectangular box that it is) I will bring up the black standoff issue. It may be possible.

UPDATE******************************UPDATE******************************UPDATE: Sorry about the alien abduction. The little bastards took my photos. I think maybe they work for Outlaw or are part of the Gang of Thugs over at the Science Forum. I finished installing the SS-6 and the ERM-1 center speaker today. I found that the 8 degree slope was a little steep for my room so I reduced it with a shim. I used a laser light to position the LCR tweeters so they were exactly pointing to my ear level at the "G" sweet spot. Unfortunately, I found out during this process that I was cockeyed. The SS-6 had about a 40% overhang on the mantel (where the ERM-1 center channel will be directly above the plasma for movies). Two construction plates I spotted at HD were the perfect support for holding the SS-6. Two coats off black primer later, two screws anchored each plate into the mantel. A plastic toilet shim reduced the slope to about 5-6 degrees. I put a strip of the non-skid shelf material on the plate which added some vibration reduction as well as keeping the SS-6 from moving on the plate. The fit was perfect and there was just enough room between the ERM-1 and the wall for the Monster banana plugs. (Don't worry, I got them online several years ago for almost 1/2 price, and they are nice). Got the left and right ERM-1's finally positioned on their Bello SP-300 stands and the wires rerouted. The ERD-1's permanent mounting will be next as I have time. So far the 5 speaker system along with my Outlaw sub sound just fabulous. I tested out the sound with some Blu-Ray, Kung-Fu Grizzly, Braka; SACD, Beatles Love; Dobly 5.1 and DTS 5.1, Eagles HFO and Funk Brothers/Standing in the Shadows of Motown; plus other CD's (EMO ERC-1 & Oppo BDP-83) and the sound is wonderfully smooth and natural. There is just no listening fatigue and the XPA-5 never seems to run out of gas. (construction plate and non-skid shelf liner) (plates, with shim, mounted) (plate, shim and non-skid pad) (SS-6 in position on plate) (ERM-1 in place) (can't see under SS-6 unless bending over or seated, might paint the shims black)

Chuckienut
Nice job setting up the SS-6 on your mantle... even if it is a little "cockeyed". Since nobody will be able to see your Monster bananas you are forgiven. At least that is one Monster you won't need to have surgically reduced in size. ;D

where did you get brown ERM-1s? ;D ;D Sorry Artie, my camera plays loose with the colors. I still have a great SLR Nikon but it is film and too much trouble. I've got a digital SLR on my Christmas list but that might be replaced by the XMC-1. ;D

Painted the white shims black, looks much better. Now I have to decide if I want to paint the standoffs black.
