Thanks Dan for dropping in and leaving the goodies. Happy 4th to the Emo Team. As you mentioned this great country, I'm reminded that there is currently a battle over raising of the debt ceiling. Seem like with all these goodies near reality, I too will have to consider my debt ceiling! Definitely not happy with the news for the XPR-7, but then, I don't need it. What have me salivating are the news about the XMC-1 and the X-Series DSP Controlled Subs. These 2 will definitely fill out my equipment signature. I don't want to install my Christmas lights too early, but I'm definitely motivated. ;D

Dan, great post, and thanks for the update. I think there's a large majority of us here that echo your sentiments about Emotiva. I'll look forward to seeing you all again soon, I hope.

Can't wait for the MPA-1. Yummy yum. I've updated the Emonatics MPA-1 page with a much larger, higher res mock-up photo of the MPA-1 if you're looking for something to drool at a little more. www.emonatics.com/MPA-1.shtml

Thanks Bill. The MPA will be ideal for my wife's small 2 channel system. Hopefully it comes pretty soon.

For those of you looking for Big Dan's update/posting, I've moved it to the "News & Updates" section in a locked & stickied thread of it's own so all Lounge members & visitors can catch up on the new products updates without having to weed through all of the new postings.

Very very sad news about the XPR-7, but thanks for letting us all know. It is greatly appreciated. Hopefully demand for an XPR-7 becomes more apparent, as I would love one!!!- I would have thought that the lower demand for the UPA-7 (and UPA-5) was due to their lower power outputs, and that the XPR-7 would have sold very well? I know I always wanted a 7 channel amp from emotiva, but just something that had more grunt than the UPA-7. Even 200-250 would have done. I guess I must be the exception to the rule, as the XPR-7 was the one I was really waiting for- Still sounds like there are some exciting products almost ready to go.

Don't feel too bad, The XPR-5 is right around the corner and the new XPR-2 is set to follow shortly after. If 400x5/8ohms and 600x2/8ohms is enough for you, I think you will be well served! Also if we see that the market is ready for a seven channel amp from us, we'll build it. Let's see what the future holds. Big Dan

It seems that it is intimated that it will no longer be coming at this time? Also, what is the projected/ball park prices, and designations of the XPR series you will be bringing out for sure? Kind regards Tom

I guess I must be the exception to the rule, as the XPR-7 was the one I was really waiting for- Still sounds like there are some exciting products almost ready to go. If you were close by, we could meet and weep together. Your post is right on target IMO. I believe that the UPA-7 was designed and intended as an supplement for those with low powered Receivers, in which the Receiver would be used as a pre/amp in combo with the UPA-7. But, the UPA-7 itself, was also low powered for audiophile considerations. Also, I believe that only a very small % of Receiver users will get a more powerful standalone power amp. One of the top reasons most people choose a Receiver over separates is space / convenience. Adding the UPA-7 does not address this concern, it makes the problem worse. I believe that if Emo added XLR inputs on the UPA-7, may be it would have garnered more sales. In fact, I believe that all power amps should have both RCA & XLR inputs. All my equipment are hidden away in a custom H/T cabinet. Space & ventilation are real concerns for me. I cannot take advantage of an XPR-5 & XPR-2 combo. However, the good news for me is that with my current speakers, the UPA-7 is just fine. So with the XPR-7 out the way, I can concentrate on the XMC-1 (all digital) and the X-Series subs. These 2 will definitely improve my listening enjoyment. Hopefully, Emo will find the need even for a limited production run of the XPR-7. But, we must keep in mind that this is business for Emo, not just a hobby. If their marketing gurus says that there isn't sufficient market for a product, their planning and development experts have to comply. Knowing the hearts of Big Dan & Lonnie, I would not be surprised if they offer us one of their prototype models. Hey Dan! ;D

I also have this Amp in my upgrade plan to get Class H with better efficient in hometeater that i have get explained to me.
And to get 7 display leds to se how much i use of the amp.
So now i must get a backup plan or if you release a seven channel 200-250 watt 8 ohm with class H with the seven leds then i buy it prompt or if you have prototype XPR-7 that are in good working condition to sale.

Certainly NOT happy about the XPR-7 being axed for the moment. Because I really want one for my 11 channel homecinema. I guess I will have to combine the XPR-5 with two XPA-3 instead of the XPR-7 and two XPA-2 to respect the budget I had in mind. That XPA-2 is closer to the output of the XPR-series than the XPA-3. Two XPR-5 (one each leg L/R) and one XPR-1 (centre) would be overinvesting IMO.

Yes, I'm kind of bummed out too that Emo axed the XPR-7.

hmm no to start saving the xpr5 and xpr-1, life is grand when you dream above your pay grade in life..
the ultimate death bed, 11x xpr-1's lol or a close second 2x xpr-5's and 1x xpr-1..
now the would be an ultimate system upgrade, Just a matter of someone pushing out a 11 channel preamp..
11 xlr connections for power amps..
I to agree the only reason upa-7,5&2 doesn't sell much more often due to the lack xlr inputs which should be standard on any power amp no matter who builds said component part...

BTW, how do you guys manage to cook? Our domestic electric cookers ususaly work with 3 x 230V. in industrial areas, we even have 380V to cook with. How else are you going to fry your steak? Unlike music, this is constant power, not peaks. Silly, We're the US, we cook wil OIL! (actually natural gas, but whatever). Now there's a frickin' idea...a natural gas powered hi-fi system with automatic ignition switches! (think sharks with frickin' lazer beeeeeams on their heads!). So, I'm looking for a 7 channel amp...Vince says the UPA-7s are all sold out...XPR-7 is M.I.A...am I to believe that Emotiva has left an opening for the competition? I'm seriously thinking about a Wyred4Sound...used they're $1900 (300X3-125X4)...anyone know any good alternatives?

Here is how I was able to turn the corner on my desire for this amp. I really don't need all that power. Currently, my speakers are very efficient book shelf types. I will be changing speakers that might require more power than the UPA-7 can provide, but not as much as the XPR-7 can dish out. (I am committed to book shelf speakers/subwoofers combination for the foreseeable future). Therefore, I was hoping that Emo would make a less powerful model at 200wpc - 300wpc. Currently, only Emo would produce such an amp at an affordable price for my budget. That with guaranteed performance and a 5 yr warranty. I don't believe that there is too powerful an amp for any given speaker. It is simply a question if you REALLY NEED the amount of power you have. And, if not, why waste money on it. However, when you ADD VALUE to the equasion, everything came into focus for me. Therefore, while I drool over getting my hands on this amp, buying it or not hinges how much it will cost. I feel pretty ceertain that Emo will make if very affordable. Hence my confidence getting one. You should check out audiogon...Rotel 1095's, Anthem PVA7/MCA50, etc...there are alternatives.

I want to stay in the Emotiva family. Their 5 yr warranty and excellent CS adds to my concept of value. So, while I appreciate your recommendations or alternatives, I'm willing to wait until Emo plays it's last card. Thanx!

Considering that, other than the XPA-1, none of the Emo amps are balanced and most (not all) have their pre/pro and source within say 10 feet of their amps; why, ausman, would Emo want to add cost to their "budget" (UPA) amps??? That would be like putting a stop watch feature (found on a number of "super-cars") on a Prius.
