Agreed, I thought 5RU was what was said in the last Webcast. Anyway we could get that confirmed? At 5RU I think I can figure out how to squeeze this in, at 6RU I think I need to shop for something else.

Attention Emotiva- We're just asking for the height of the unit...not a release date...it's ok to tell us!

Post #63 from you says 6 RU high...but since you've only said that height once and you've said 5 RU "several times" I'll assume 5 RU is the correct height going forward.... ;D

The XPR-7 was live at Emofest, so...
Did anyone get a picture of this thing?
How was it demoed?
Impressions?
Spill the beans please!

Some of us got to see it turned on and the front LEDs active. They didn't have it hooked up to any speakers though. It's a beast, back panel indicates max 4000W input. Anyone purchasing this will probably want a 220V circuit available. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRcCvGP47nQ

So, rounding up that's 9 inches high, huh? Sounds like I need to go look into installing that 220V circuit.... Now, if we can just drag a release date or estimated MSRP out of you, we'll be all set! On another note, has anyone considered the potential of using this thing with surround speakers which might not have been designed with the idea of 400W each in mind? I've heard that there's more risk of screwing up a speaker using an amp with not enough power as opposed to too much power, but just wanted to get the input of others on this.

hummm that thing look pretty darn tall compaired to the xpa-1. I'd need a whole new stand AGAIN! lol It took me 2 months to find the one I have now to fit all my gear (thanks to bigred) Is there any LxWxH? looks like it won't fit in too many stands. 6 RU, I believe, but standard rack width, and with rack ears. Did anyone see the XPR-7 with Rack ears or handles @ Emofest? I'm curious to see how Emotiva implemented this if they did. Thx JD.

It only weighs in at ~110# Tidbit: it has two sets of output connectors for each channel for bi-wiring or high current applications.

You are better off with having an amplifier with plenty of headroom. When an amplifier clips, it can do bad things(tm) to your speakers. You can still blow your speakers out if your amplifier is higher powered and you goose the heck out of the volume though. ;D Doug
