Well I'm officially crazy as I just ordered the XPA 2 for my HT and 2 channel mains along with the XPA 3 for the center and rears, and the UPA 7 for the back surrounds. I just added 2 SVS PB Plus 12" subs to the mix as well. This is gonna be one sick setup! ;D

You don't sound crazy to me at all. Congratulations on a few very wise investments in quality audio gear.

Well thanks guys! I'm looking forward to the power of the XPA 2 with my NHT ST4 mains and my JM Lab Focal Electra 905s. I currently have a Meitner STR 50 (50 wpc) for the 2 channel with a YBA CD2 as the source, so the difference should be quite nice.

I just received my XPA-3 yesterday with future plans of a XPA-2 for the front L/R and a UPA-2 for the rear surrounds to power the Fresco i's. For now I'll use the XPA-3 to power the fronts and center of my 5.1 system. When I move to 7.1 and purchase the XPA-2 for the fronts then I'll power the rear sides with two chs. of the XPA-3.
dm1010. How do you like the SVS subs?

What are your rear speakers that they would require a UPA-7 to run them? I couldn't make it out from the previous threads. Seems like overkill. If it is feasible wouldn't it better for you to just sell the UPA-7 and buy a UPA-2?

How do you like the SVS subs? Your setup sounds like it will be similar to mine. The SVS subs are pretty incredible! They are extremely well built much like the Emo gear! I've never heard such LOW bass from the Blu-rays that I'm used to auditioning.

If it is feasible wouldn't it better for you to just sell the UPA-7 and buy a UPA-2? JD You're right about the overkill. I originally had the UPA 7 running all 7 channels (86 db sensitivity 8 ohm NHTs) but I contracted Emotivaitus bad. I bought the XPA 3 for the fronts, but I'm now going to use the XPA 2 for my 2 channel (JM Lab Focal Electra 905s) setup as well as the HT (just swich the inputs around), the XPA 3 for the center and rears, and the UPA 7 for the 2 back surrounds. The unit puts out a lot more wattage only using the 2 channels as it's a pooled power supply. I haven't considered selling it because of the weight. I'm in Canada and it costs almost $140 to ship these things from Franklin so I'm just going to keep it. You can always put an amp to use! I intend to use all of them for the next 10-20 years.

dm1010, let me know when you want to sell your UPA 7. I'm planning on getting 2 of those for whole house audio. No rush as the house is still being built. I'm also in Ottawa.

The XPA 2 with the YBA gear (I just bought a YBA 2 preamp to mate with the YBA CD2) is absolutely fantastic. The soundstage is 3 dimensional, the imaging is dead on, the detail is impeccable, it is completely silent, and the control over the speakers is phenomenal. I'm extremely happy with the XPA 2. Thank you Emotiva!

dm1010, I've searched through your posts trying to see how you felt re: the upgrade from the UPA7 to the XPA3 was and I haven't seen any posting on that upgrade specifically (I probably just missed it).
Thanks Chris (a fellow DM Fan! Have you purchased the SACD DM albums?)

also just purchased the xpa-2 & 3 combo for the HT system. The question isn't will it destroy my yamaha rxv3800 in SQ but by how much I noticed quite a BIG improvement from my htr-6290 (rxv-1900) when i switched to xpa5 You should notice an even greater improvement as the xpa2 is a cut above the xpa5 in most/all regard's I can't wait 'till my xpa1's come in so i can really rock the place! ;D I live in an apartment by the way lol
