Thanks for the update.
I'd venture X-mas might be soon given the unit's track record, but a good, working product will be the reward.

That is exactly why I continue to buy from Emotiva and sing the praises of Emotiva products to my friends and on other forums. I have seen countless companies continue to release products way before their time. (Has anyone heard of Microsoft Corporation or Samsung to mention several)
I will patiently wait knowing that when the UMC-1 and XMC-1 are released I can be confident that they will be virtually free of operating and performance issues. The direct to buyer price and Emotiva's great customer service will be frosting on the cake for me. That is one reason I waited so long for the Oppo BDP-83, to mention a good example.
Thanks to Dan Laufman and the entire crew at Emotiva for providing me with outstanding products I previously would not have been able to afford. ;D ;D ;D

i totally agree with chuckienut.
although i only own the erc-1 and some wonderful emo speaker, rca and toslink cables, i am definitely a convert. i did wait for oppo to get the blu-ray right and it is serving me very well.
take all the time you need to get it right!!!! we will all be rewarded for our patience.
"blessed is the man who waits on the umc-1"
(with apologies to the bible)

Even when it's not what I want to hear, I'm always appreciative of updates on the UMC-1. It takes a lot of guts to step to the front of a group (figuratively), and deliver bad news. However, it takes steadfast integrity to refuse to release a product that is not yet up to your standards. Especially when accepting something less would both silence those critical of further delay and put money in your pocket. This is what I've come to expect from Emotiva, and it will keep me a loyal customer for life.

I appreciate this letter. IMO it is always better to under promise and over deliver. I think we would all agree that the backlash of Emotiva releasing a buggy product just to sate our desire would be far greater than the impatient complaining that is fairly rampant already. Just look at all the trash talk and in fighting from another popular ID audio company that seems to follow more of an over promise under deliver model...IMO. I think we all know who I am talking about. I am looking forward to the release, but I would rather spend time listening to a solid product than cruising forums and posting about bugs and how they released a product that wasnt ready for prime time.

What is puzzling to me is that Lonnie went to China to sign off on the UMC-1 a few weeks ago. So if he signed off I wonder what happen after that. Was another problem discovered?

I stopped counting the number buggy AVRs that were released before they were ready, and how many customers were hot. I hated it no end. Pre Pros the same way. HDMI never worked right. Handshake problems and the like. Man, doesn't anybody make sure this stuff works before coming out to the dealers and customers. It is embarrassing. So I say kudos to Emotiva for not doing that stuff where the mentality fix it in field boys happens too often.

I want the UMC, and want it bad, but I can wait for Dan and company to make it the best it can be. It says a lot about a company that will forego profit in the short term (and at the expense of future sales for those who prefer not to wait) in order to release a product that delivers. That makes me feel good about Emotiva. Just my two cents.

I think HDMI is more about HDCP than it is about creating a best of the best video standard and it has been problematic from the get go. I also commend Emotiva for taking it on the chin and making sure the product is tested as thoroughly as possible. You could absolutely hemorrhage cash with having to clean it all up in the field plus reputation type damage. It may not be popular but it is the right thing to do!

Welcome to the show, welcome to the show where we do it right and make no excuses for it. It's a great day for America.
Our friends at Emotiva are watching out for us and care we have the best experience possible with the UMC-1. Again a lesson other folks could learn from. Thanks for Emotiva doing the right thing.
;D ;D

Big Dan's letter just verifies again what a CLASS ACT the Laufman's and their Emotiva Crew are.

Thanks for the update... unfortunately I didn't make it on the pre-order list; however, I'm more than happy to wait in line or jump in if someone bails from the list.
I'm not sure why folks are complaining about a manufacturer trying to get it right before releasing a product. I understand that it's difficult to wait and folks are anxious, but I rather wait for a quality product from a manufacture that cares about it's customers. Never mind the fact that they are releasing it at an affordable price point... some seem to forget this aspect. Anyway... Kudos to Emo for keeping us in the loop...

If the delay is licensing, then obviously we're screwed until someone outside of EMO has done their thing. If it's continued handshake issues, what degree of success in eliminating these issues is possible/realistic? I admit I have very limited knowledge in the area.

Thank`s big dan and emotiva for the update , your reasoning and integrity at least for me was never in question I new you would not release anything that was not up to your standards that is why I quietly wait for the XMC and subs besides the delays just gives me time to save up more $$$ for more emotiva products as they become available , I would also like to thank you for taking your time to build me as bug free as possible high quality components for my entertainment needs and as far as I`m concerned you shortened my wait -because if it wasn`t for emotiva and there quality performance and price I wouldn`t of been able to afford a system to the standards that I demanded ,they where/was always out of my price range .

Glad to see an official update...I hope we see the official release date soon, and if not - at least updates every few weeks on status. But, what was written does show the class we expect from Emotiva...a true committment to quality.
