Would anyone else find it useful if Emotiva added an option to include trigger cable(s) and/or wall warts with their Amplifier and Pre-Amp purchases?

They sell a trigger control unit (ET-3) that comes with it's own wall wart and 3 trigger cables.

They sell a trigger control unit (ET-3) that comes with it's own wall wart and 3 trigger cables. True, but it's overkill for simpler setups like a single UMC-1 hooked up to a UPA-7 for example. I suppose it is easy enough to go out to find your own trigger cable, but then again there have been a couple of threads expressing issues over this matter. What I'm getting at is that when your shiny new equipment arrives at your door the last thing you want to find out is the cable you picked up isn't quite the right one. Otherwise why not build in auto on signal sensing into the Amps like the way my sub turns on when it senses a signal? I guess I'm still looking for a satisfactory answer to an old question... emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=amps&thread=3339&page=1

I really thought they were going to do this when they announced they would release their own line of cables. It's a good idea, but i imagine there is no money in them.

Trigger cables are one of those items that unless you've had experience with them... you don't know exactly what to get and pretty much anyone you ask at your local Radio Shack or Best Buy, etc. Gives you one of those tilted dog head looks. I think at the very least... a little blurb in the manual on what to buy or just throw one into the box would be nice. However... Since your shiny new amp will arrive with no trigger cable. This may help... A trigger cable is... A 2 conductor cable with a male 1/8" or 3.5mm "mono" plug at each end. Most processors and/or receivers with trigger outputs can trigger at least 3 devices. For instance... I'm using a $300 Yamaha RX-V663 receiver as my processor until the UMC-1 ships. It has one trigger out and I have two Emo amps... I have a single Male mono to female "Y" adapter plugged into the RX-V663 and two Mono cables going from the "Y" to each of my amps. The Yamaha easily triggers both amps on and off. FYI... I asked Lonnie at one time how many devices I could trigger with a UMC-1 and he told me that each trigger connector could trigger 5 devices.

Thanks for the tips about picking out the cable. I actually have been running my UPA-7 since late last year with a Wall Wart plugged into my little Denon AVR1801. I remember standing in the store staring at packaging for 5 minutes trying to make sure I had the right item.

I wanted to let you all know I just got my UPA-2 and USP-1 today and they both came with a trigger cable, the USP-1 even came with a free T-shirt XXL tried to shrink with no luck but it was cool non the less Its stuff like this that makes me an emotiva lover without even hearing the product yet.

I made a trigger cable the other day for my XPA5. I took a Motorola 5v mini usb wall wart, cut the end off and spliced on a mono 3.5mm plug. Center (tip) is positive. White stripe on the wall wart cable was positive.
Works well. No need for 12v.

I bought a trigger cable at Radio Shack for $4 and it worked perfectly well for as long as I needed it. I doubt that even Emotiva could undercut the Radio Shack price. About the only advantages Emo could offer would be online convenience and custom length. I doubt those factors would be enough to generate much demand.

Trigger cables are cheap enough that Emotiva could just throw one in the box. The problem is that trigger cables should be "mono" and the Radioshacks around here sell "stereo" trigger cables. Some folks report that they work, others say they don't. Monoprice doesn't carry a mono trigger cable......Markertec does however.
In the box from Emo would cut down on confusion.

Having Emo supply trigger cables would just detract from what they do which is make superb audio equipment. I've used both stereo and mono cables for triggers and both work equally well. Also, there is no controversy over the quality of cables - i.e., no one is going to argue that there is a difference in sound between the cheap stuff you get from Monoprice versus spending $20 on a cable at Worst Buy. Those cables are so easy to find and also so cheap. I don't understand why everyone makes such a big deal about the trigger cables. They aren't rocket science.

I don't follow on the detraction comment. It may not be rocket science, but from reading here and on other forums concerning trigger cables....there is confusion........maybe Emotiva can post a FAQ concerning what cables to look for and use.........just trying to help here..........

Let me start by saying that I don't work for Emotiva, but I have 15 years in professional sound system design and engineering experience. This is the cable that you need to use for a trigger cable: 1/8" male (3.5mm) phono plug to 1/8" male (3.5mm) phone plug MONOSometimes they call the these "mini-phono" or "phone" or "mini-jack" The radioshack part number is: 42-2420 (6 foot length) The radioshack link is: www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102950I hope this helps. As some have mentioned, myself included, if the ERT-3 comes with trigger cables, the USP, and UPA come with trigger cables, even the discontinued RPA-2 came with a trigger cable. As a matter of fact, it's the cable that came with the RPA-2 that I am trying to find right now. My new Velodyne SMS-1 uses a bare wire connection into a terminal clip like the RPA-2 did. I hope there might be one laying around Emo HQ, that they might want to sell me. Otherwise, I'll have to jump through hoops to find or make one that will work for me...... This is just what I need!! www.emotiva.com/rpa2_trigger.shtm

I bet Mon$ter would sell you a trigger cable for the low low price of $49.95. You'll be amazed how good the "click" sounds when you turn on a device with a Mon$ter triggle cable. ;-)
Mark.
