I waited on writing this review because I wanted to make sure my first impressions didn't fade. As some of you know in the past I mainly stuck with Bose speakers because when I tried them out and bought them years ago, they were hard to beat for the price. This is the first upgrade to speakers I've done in over 10 years so I was a little nervous. I didn't want to go with Bose anymore because of the direction they went. I really don't like the cubes. After reading many of your reviews the decision was very hard because it sounded like no matter what Emotive you were evaluating no one sounded unhappy. I also had to convince the wife there were speakers better than Bose so I decided on the 6.3 because they were the best speaker sold individually by Emotive and per everyone's advice I wanted the front of my ht to all have the same speaker.
Enough you say. Get on with the review.
OK. The first night I set them up, i didn't have any place to put the LR speakers so I set them on the floor which wasn't in the preferred 12" from the center. The wife wasn't too impressed because she didn't believe she heard any difference from the Bose setup I'd been using for the last 10 years. I noticed a distinguishing increase in clarity but knew I needed to work on the placement. The next couple of days I built some custom shelves onto the entertainment center to position the speakers by the recommendation then balanced the speakers. What a huge difference. I'm not really an audiophile but I know when I hear good sound. These speakers are exceptional especially with a sub.
I don't have any experience with the other Emotive speakers and I'm sure they sound great also but I can recommend the 6.3 as exceptional sound and value. So much so that I was actually able to convince my wife to allow me to but 2 pair of ERD-1s to complete the surround package. One pair is coming in this Friday. I'll let you know how that turns out. I'll take a picture of everything once it's setup. Thanks everyone for your time and thanks Emotive for another great product.
