I would actually prefer the satin finish of the other speakers to veneer too. Please, oh please, use the satin finish on the ERS models.

Are they black oak or am I seeing some weird reflection? I was thinking these would be the same finish as the rest of the speaker line.. Nope. Veneer. People asked for it. We listened. Is it just black for now or will there be different options?

I'm sorry, that's just ugly. Why couldn't the finish and nice rounded edges match the beautiful enclosures on other Emotiva speakers? Ok this is funny...because we've constantly had people tell us how ugly the current speakers are, and that their wives would not allow them in the house, etc. People want wood grain veneers, they said. Maybe not funny...ironic. Oh, well...

These of course are the Ultra series, the budget line. The other subs are still in the works. I think they look good...they sound great, for sure.

I think when people wanted wood grain they meant colored wood grain. It would have been kool if there was an option to get either the smooth satin finish or this black veneer one.

I'm ok with the look. Its not like "I'm" going to see it in my theater.
But I think the same finish on the big dogs as the ERM's (6.2, 6.3, 8.3, ERD's) would be better.
I think I paid 399 for my Infinity PS12 a few years ago, the Ultra 10" would probably out perform it too.

Well, I think the veneer looks fine, especially for the value range. From these photos it looks better than a lot of the value range spray on or vinyl stuff that other companies use. I'm not in the market for new subs right now but being small, powerful, sealed, with the right controls for not much money seems to hit on what most people (and wives) want....
Perhaps I may just see about a new sub for upstairs someday... If these things play as low as claimed with reasonable distortion, I think they look like a winner.

Looking good Dann, looking good. Once people start buying these subs, I will have to see whether one of Emotivas offerings will be a upgrade form my SVS SB12-plus. All I can say is that they are tight and very musical... I had a humorous thought here...but will leave it alone out of good taste. Come on Dann. We want the dirt

If X version of subs have satin finish they will look like the rest of my speakers. I like satin finish. It's always a matter of personal preference, but to me, black veneer always screams CHEEEEEEEEEEEAP PRODUCT. I know that Emotiva is an exception to this rule, so I would buy them anyway (even in veneer finish). And please keep those metal plates and magnetic grills. Then people like me will be able to build whole system with the same look.

I think they look fine but for the ers212 my vote is satin black to match the erm line or rosewood or cherry to match the next generation of emo speakers!! ;D

Dann: What about some better pics ? What's wrong with the pics? I have more, full view of the back, and with the grills on.
