I am considering taking advantage of that sale priced ERC-1 but wonder if the difference compared to the Oppo is worth the cost and loss of shelf space?

On my system and to my ears, the ERC beats the Oppo for two channel playback. I have the Oppo connected via the analog 5.1 inputs and the ERC via the standard RCA connection, and the ERC still wins. |

I just got my erc-1 for couple days now...it's a solid build machine...and the remote of course...
you will definitely hear more detail than before...
go get one now before the sale end...

Update. Pulled the trigger on a USP-1. Will wait for the emo DAC versus the ERC-1 as reality is most music playback is going to be media center anyway. Will use Oppo as a CD transport for the emo DAC. Waiting like everyone else for a UMC-1. I wish the USP -1 had XLRs. Happy New Year!
