Everything is top notch and is working perfectly fine. A little rubber smell from the erc feets but thats ok. One question, maybe i am not an audiophile type of person, i dont know what to expect from this cd player versus my old sony $50 dollars CD player. Can someone direct me, i mean, i dont know what to expect in terms of sound quality, they both sound good, but the emo is like 6 times the price. So far is seems like is plays a little bit more definition but it could be just my head after spending the $$.

I am using the analog output from the erc and i also tried using the Source direct mode. I did not find a substantional if any improvement over my old CD player. I will keep testing it. Any suggestion? thanks I am using Marantz 6400, ERC1, Ascend Acoustic Sierra, Emo cables using analog. What input are you using for the ERC-1. Ricardo, Here is the back image for your 6400 that is hyper-linked to Marantz. You will need to use the 6.1 inputs from your the ERC for the L/R connections in order to bypass the DAC on the Marantz. The reason your $50 player sounds the same as the ERC as they are both having their signal reprocessed by the Marantz. The Source Direct on the Marantz is not a bypass function. It merely turns off the bass management and tone controls. Here is a link for your manual: SR6400 ManualHere is your back panel image and you need to connect to the L/R on the 6.1 inputs and once again the image is hyper-linked to the Marantz product page. Here is a link to my ERC review with detail configuration diagram that will be very consistent with your setup. If you are using a sub then pay close attention to the configuration as you will need to use a y adapter on the FL and have one connection to the ERC L and one to your Sub on the 6.1. ERC Review with configs for AVRLastly not all direct buttons perform a bypass of a units on board DAC. My Denon just turns off the video circuitry in Pure Direct and in Direct turns off most of the video circuitry but still allows you to use the OSD but does not bypass the Burr Brown DAC at all. The only way to do that was to use the 7.1 and this is very consistent with your setup. I used the multi-channel inputs for about 6 months till I purchased the USP-1 and have now bypassed my Denon completely for 2 channel. kind regards, SticknStones

Ricardo, The ultimate judge on how any product brings new performance levels to your listening environment is really you and your sense of sound.
If you have configured your equipment to isolate the ERC so that you are using its analog connections and DAC yet feel the sound improvement is marginal then I think you could consider the 30 day trial as a good method to protect your investments. I would test it for a few weeks and take a little more time. I hope our posts have helped you to at least get the right configuration in place. Other things to keep in mind is the ERC is but one device in a chain of devices and interconnects. I would hope you are using good quality analog interconnects, have pretty good speakers and such!
Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Good luck and welcome to the forum! ...and of course, the one very, very important piece of the puzzle is using high quality media during your listening tests. No matter how good every other link in the sound path is, if you have crappy quality CDs you will get crappy sound -- garbage in, garbage out. I highly recommend that you get a couple of "sample HDCD recordings" from Reference Recordings. These are exceptional recordings to use to demo the ERC-1 with. www.referencerecordings.com/JAZZ.aspJust click on the link and take a look at what they have to offer. Take a good look at their "SAMPLER" offerings to start out. These are some of the best sounding music I have heard -- the best you will find on CDs. ;D
