Don't get me wrong I am VERY happy with the amp, but everyone raves about it running soooo cool.
IN Australia (240 volt land) on a warm day with prolonged use it does get very warm. Admittedly with all the reviews stating how cool it runs I was wondering if there was anything wrong with it. I then noticed my receiver was running at a similar temperature so I now am OK with it.
I am wondering if 240v vs 110v is the reason for the elevated running temp?

I'm also in Australia & I've noticed this with my 2 XPA-5's. Even when running only 2 channels they both get hot on warm days.

No air conditioning in the home?

We just had a mini heatwave in my home town over 43 degrees Celsius in the shade for 5 days in a row. That is 110 degrees Fahrenheit and after a few days the external bricks in fact everything just builds up in temp.
I do have air conditioning but after prolonged heat and trying to cool superhot air it will only drop 10-15 degrees anyway.. You do get used to it... Todaywe are having a little cool relief and the amp is still warm.

Wow... that's pretty hot if your indoor ambient temp is 90+ degrees with the AC on. I would therefore assume the amp will run warm.

Sorry luisevas - I didn't convert from C to F - inside varies between 25 and 28 degrees C which = about 80 degrees F.

Ah... lol... no problem. Best bet is to call Emotiva to voice your concern on the amp. Keep us posted as I'm interested in purchasing an XPA-3.

I know they are different amps but my UPA-2 never gets anything over slightly warm. Even after it has been on all day and night playing at decent volumes. But I live in Colorado and it's about 67F in my house.

I'm with chuckienut, we would like to see how much ventilation you have. I have adequate ventilation on all my amps but some still run hot. No worries for most, as I am the "nut" that occasionally listens to music Very Loud! (not too long ago I was jammin' to some tunes in multichannel stero in 11.1/3 and after awhile I smelled something. It turned out to be some crossover components in one of my speakers was getting a little too hot. Turned it way down for awhile and they all still seem to be operating properly but not sure for how long. One thing is for sure, hot or not, these amps are an absolute steal for what you get for the money! Blessings, Brian

My XPAs run cool to warm, but never hot. My old Onkyo could have been used as a skillet.

seriously suggest trying this inexpensive route on keeping things running cool....as long as you have the space to mount them to the top of your amps www.coolerguys.com/120fan.html

Thanks for the suggestion House - I'd like a passive/noiseless option if possible - maybe an additional heat sink?

20db is pretty quiet.......and even if its a temp solution its still a rather cheap insurance plan...
keep in mind you can also set the fans up on a thermal couple controlled thermostat so they only turn on at a set temp when a certain area gets hot....
