Looks like I really missed out on the cable promotions. I was waiting till I was ready to buy a component so I could get the 50% off on cables, but I guess that promotion is over. I thought it was going to a perminant thing . Does anyone know if the 15% off (or whatever it was) still applies to existing emo customers , or is that over as well?

The holiday promotion is over, but you might e-mail or call them to see if they have any other kind of promotion.

It was 25% off for existing customers and I was told that program was terminated, also. This was very dissppointing because I wanted to upgrade some of my cables over the next two months. I am not going to have a cow over it. This is nothing Monoprice, some nylon sleeving and a little elbow grease can't take care of.

I realize Emotiva has many things on its plate, and thus it's possible to overlook things, but if it is true the discount has ended, I don't think it reflects well on Emotiva that they made an open ended announcement that all previous Emotiva customers will receive a discount on the cables, and then later withdraw that discount without any warning that there will be a change of policy. I would have no complaint if they had initially given an end date, but to my memory, there has never been any indication that the prior customer discount would be time limited.

That was part of the Holiday sale which has come and gone. I don't understand how people think a company "owes" them something after a sale has ended. Poor customer service? That's what you call missing a sale? Look I found an old sale from 2006! web.archive.org/web/20061107031205/emotiva.com/products.htmlWhat poor customer service that I can't get this now. I wasn't even notified that it was over! See how silly that sounds?

I am pretty sure the cable discount for existing customers was NOT open-ended and that they made this known when they first announced it. I can't recall exact details on what they said and in what mode of commuincation, but I recall that I made sure I placed an order early-on in the cables' availability to make sure I got the discount. For some reason, I am thinking it was only for the first 30 days or so, unless they also extended that to the holiday sale (which was clearly a limited time frame sale...)
Then - to nickwin...the 50% off was just the holiday sale. They might go on sale again, so you could either buy now from Emo, buy elsewhere, or wait to see if a sale happens again.

Bootman, I'm not sure if you are referring to my post, but if so, the original offer to previous owners was not presented in the form of a sale, Holiday or otherwise. It was a statement of the amount of discount prior Emotiva customers would receive with no reference to a time limit. I'm not even criticizing Emotiva for changing its policy regarding the discount, I just find it discourteous to its customers to do so without any warning.

The existing customer discount was announced in a podcast LONG before the holiday sale. It was not part of the holiday sale and anyone that writes that is wrong. I don't care, but don't post information that is incorrect. I'm a Emotiva fanboy, but let's not get THIS issue twisted

I think all of the podcasts are still posted on the Emotiva web site. Was this one in the summer?

Discounts and Sales are both short lived else they just become "The Price". Just like (quoted from a movie) if EVERYONE knows and uses "a shortcut" to get there, then it just becomes "They Way".
The only long standing promotion that is been continually supported is the 40% off net gen processors for previous original owners.
If you want something on sale, strike while the fire is hot. Don't hang them out to try because you felt there should have been some additional prompting "Better Buy these cables now as we are stopping the discount after the holiday" or other official statement of discount/sale change.

Obviously many of us thought it "the price" was going to be 25% off for existing customers. Emotiva has the 40% of processor program for existing processor owners, so I don't think it was unreasonable to assume that the 25% of cables to existing customers was permanant also.
I ended up buying 5 Ultra RCA for at full price for $25. That's still a good price, but not as competitive as it would be with the discount. Put it this way, I thought long and hard about getting these vs Mono Price vs BJC at full price, but with 25% off I would have grabbed these right off the bat without hesitation, and I probably would have bought more for the rest of my system too.
When I can afford it I will probably get rid of these and go with BJC LC-1's unless Emotiva starts another cable promotion by then

It was not an unreasonable thought.
I figured it was part of the Holiday sale, hoped it would last a bit longer... but as there customer base grows they can't keep giving those deep of discounts for "existing customers" and stay in business.
I was going to buy X cables when I get the call for a UMC-1, but now that they are no longer on sale, it is a tough choice between BJC and X... I don't think you can go wrong either way. It would have certainly been cooler to have cool Emo cables though.
