$2500.00 list, I paid less than a third.......
Woo Hoo!!!
No UMC-1, at least I can be excited about these....... ;D

I have had a HT room full of Snell speakers in the past and to date they were the cleanest, sweetest, HT speakers I have ever had.. Enjoy!

Are these new Snells? Where were they made? I wonder, since Snell is now part of the Denon empire, if they were made in MA or in China? I know they build enclosures in MA, but I believe the drivers are made on the same lines as nearly everyone elses....
Note that this is not any sort of slam, I am just curious!

Snell was bought by Boston Acoustics some time ago who was then acquired by DM holdings. The have been making them in Peabody MA for a decade or so. My C/V were made in the original factory in Haverhill, MA. In fact I have a pair E III which were also made in Haverhill and I had the opportunity to go there and pick out the veneers for the cabinets and watch them tune my crossovers... cool Those days are gone

But will your whip beat this one? It has REALLY big motor!!! If that whip can do 0 to 60 in 1.8 seconds, the quarter mile in 9.5 seconds and 195 mph in 9/10ths of a mile... Then we'll be even. ...of course if there's one turn in the road I'm gone and you'll get a nice view of my tail light. ;D

Sorry... Meant to add that...
Both of those are really really nice whips and I would be proud to own either of them.

My speed days are over when I'm on two wheels. "Sometimes the journey is better than the arrival" Your bike has the advantage of displacement which relates to a lot of low end torque. Where your bike has the advantage is on the highway. If your cruising along in top gear and you roll on against a jap bike... he'll have to down shift a couple gears to get into the power band. By then you're already ahead. In a drag race from a dead stop... you'll get him for the first 100 yards but once the jap bike gets up to around 7000 rpm... then there's no stopping him. Of course it really comes down to what you like. Your taste in bikes is the opposite of mine and while each have their advantages... they are at opposite ends of the spectrum and so there is no real comparison. I agree with regard to speed... The street is a dangerous place even at the speed limit. After 35 years of riding and 25 bikes... I don't even ride on the street any more... I just take it to the track.

Oh, I've had Jap bikes too.... Really fast. But so clinical, sewing machine like. I have a Harley Roadking too and thats just a nice comfy cruiser. This custom is not that comfy or as easy to ride, but its so guttural and loud, I love it for 20-35 miles at a time. The picture doesn't do it justice. A work of art. Kinda like toolin around in a AC Cobra....... But I'll keep my Porsche.......

Porscheguy, Excellent decision on the Snells. Luv 'em. My C/V's (gone now) remain an all time favorite. However the K's need to be replaced with a pair of mint black oak SUR500's. They have no peer for use with classic Snell's. I happen to know of a closet that is storing a pair on it's top shelf... Let me know if you are interested. Regarding the "whips", I used to have arguments similar to you and onelitrepeter all the time. Then I bought my BMW.

Thanks for letting me know stasis. Yes, I'm a Snell freak. I have 5 pairs, C/V, K.5, J7, SR.5 and EIII. I've only recently acquired the K.5's as they have replaced the SR.5 (which are for sale). I'm sure the SUR500 are great, but the K.5's are no slouch - on their own they even sound great as stereo mains and did duty in my living room and were pretty impressive. I'm a little "speakered out" right now unless they were such a great deal.....
