When using the LMC-1 remote or my harmony 880 remote, the volume will just keep going up or down after the volume button is released. The light on the front is flashing while this happens. Works fine with the volume control on the front of the unit.
I tried to do a quick search and found nothing.

Are you sure it's not the Harmony acting up? In the past, I've had my 550 decide to continue pressing the last button pressed. Thought I was going to blow my speakers one time. I had to mash any button again on the remote before it stopped sending the signal.

Same as ackbar - harmony has an issue where at times a key will stick...

They also can act a bit wonky when the batteries are starting to go. I would try replacing them.

He said it was both his Harmony and the remote that came with the LMC-1. So I think it probably isn't the harmony remote.
I would call Emotiva..

Thanks everyone.
Of course when I tried it this am all works as should with both remotes.
Had to install new batteries in the LMC-1 remote before I tried it, I had not used it in a long time.
The battery on the 880 showed full.

A big thanks to Janna and the tech crew at Emotiva. They got my LMC-1 turned around and back to me in time for our Super Bowl party this w/e. Will get it hooked back up today.
Emotiva-The best bang for the buck equipment and the best service too!!!

Works fine with the volume control on the front of the unit. I tried to do a quick search and found nothing. I had the exact thing happen with my UMC-1 and harmony 880. Luckily it was stuck voluming down but it didnt stop when I completely covered the end of the harmony. odd. i will also say it has done it only once so far in ~7 tv sessions.
