One last post in the thread and I'll shut up. Please owh please... Anyone into this stuff try to checkout a local DIY "audio circle" get-together/show/convention. You'll meet fantastic old school guys that are willing to teach and help you learn and understand the science behind this fabulous industry/hobby. With the right connections you can even have your cabinets built for you for a small fee using the plethora of designs available. These old "gurus" have been messing with loudspeakers in their basements for decades and I can assure you the best loudspeakers/rigs I've ever heard in my life was at a DIY convention built by one of these guys in his basement. Two places to start that offer kits that will blow the doors off of most speaker you can purchase prefab and you can get prebuilt cabinets for them even. www.parts-express.comand www.madisound.comJust take a look at the recent activity in the DIY section of this forum! Worry not if you don't understand electronics. All you need know is how to operate power tools, solder station and invest in a bunch, and I mean a LOT, of wood clamps!!! LOL Considering finish doesn't affect sound in any way what so ever you can start with ugly but great sounding speakers and later graduate to finely finished cabinets. If you've done DIY on home improvements you can build your own speakers ppl!!! Places to start for designs and advice www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-speakers/www.audiocircle.com/index.php?action=circles/www.diyaudio.com/forums/www.audioasylum.com/index.htmdiyaudioprojects.com/Forum/In fact there is an entire world out there of free info and great people willing to share their knowledge in a free and open manor with no mystique, pseudoscience or BS. In fact the man that designed the Emotiva loudspeakers comes from this background and wrote a rather famous book on the topic.

Jed at Clearwave Loudspeaker has an MTM like that. It's expensive though as it uses the Scanspeak Revelators and the EU made HDS tweeter (not the chinese peerless one). I can imagine that's gotta be the best quasi MTM d'apollato array around using those drivers and PE Dayton cab. www.clearwaveloudspeaker.com/C52/C52.htmlThe price is high but those Revelator split paper drivers are very expensive. The HDS isn't bad at about $70 bucks but the midwoofers are expensive. Considering how important an xover is in an MTM and the effort and work Jed has put into that C52 xover I'd say it's a fantastic deal for prob the best speaker of it's design around bar none. Do the math, Jed isn't making that much and is really doing it for the love of audio and speaker design. If my Dynamics work out like I think they will I'm gunna have to give him a paypal donation for putting up with hundreds of emails and questions... LOL A cheaper choice for a similar design would be a NatalieP or Modula etc I'd like to build a Dynamic series like speaker MTMWW/WW only using Scanspeak drivers like the new underhung motor Illuninator series. Thing is though at $300 bucks a driver or more it would be an expensive endeavor! The woofers alone would be over $1200 bucks for one speaker let alone the mid section or xover parts. At DIY shows though I personally found designs using the Scanspeak paper cone mid/woofers were the best sounding speakers. Scanspeak drivers are about the best around for DIY but EXPENSIVE!
