I think Emotiva should build a kick a$$ AV rack to house all my equipment? Have you guys thought about making a rack as well?

That would be pretty cool, but I don't think they should. You have to stop somewhere. I say they should make a plasma and stop there lol

I think an Emotiva rack is a great idea. A little late for me, but still. I had a hard time finding a rack that would accomodate a pair of XPA-1's at a reasonable price. Ended up ordering a Walker Edison and having to call them to get an extra set of 9" poles to fit the second XPA. On the other hand, I think there are enough irons in the fire to keep the staff busy for quite a while. Heck, an enterprising individual could probably make some cash by selling their own custom built racks that fit Emo gear.

Kind of off topic, but if anyone is looking for inexpensive shelving for heavy duty equipment (like emo amps) Sanus Euro Foundations have worked really well for me. They claim to hold up to 200lbs on each of the bottom 2 or 3 shelves and fit big amps no problem. There modular, so you can do anywhere from one to 6+ levels. I searched extensively, and these look and feel very high quality for the price I got 3 tiers for around $150.
P.S. That shelf above looks like a peice of art, what is the price tag on that?

Wow! Cool rack! Is that an existing product or your dream design? It was an Idea I had dreamed up. I was thinking of getting a pair of XMC-1's and figured I'd need a rack. So I got to thinking and I thought... You know what would be cool is if I had a rack where all of the legs would be held under tension by motorcycle spokes. The legs are 8020 aluminum extrusions, the connecting links are CNC aluminum and of course the rods and rod ends are motorcycle spokes. I still want to make one but I need to wait another month for a CNC mill at our shop to open up.

Great find! I found the base plus 3 more shelves for $150, which seems amazing for the quality. I don't see anywhere claiming 200lb per shelf. The website says 125lbs for the bottom shelf and 80lbs for each additional shelf, which is still solid and more than I need. One question. With the standard shelf height being 8", did you purchase 12" pillars for the Emo amp shelves? Doesn't seem like there'd be enough clearance otherwise.

Sounds like a good idea at first. However, it seems to me a lot of warehouse and shipping space unless it is all broken down. The design would have to be flexible, interchangeable and stackable for either horizontal or vertical expansion to keep the design, costs and inventory to a minimum. I think they would be better off concentrating on amps, preamps, pre-pros, CD players, speakers, subs and other components that 100% of upgrading enthusiasts and audiophile purchase and stay out of the furniture business.
PS: That is one gorgeous rack that Pete posted!

At AxponaLonnie said he was looking into designing a similar rack package that could be totally customized in configuration.

I have talked to Lonnie about Emotiva selling their own equipment racks, and he has some really amazing ideas for accommodating big heavy equipment. I would definitely be interested in what Emotiva would have to offer. Many of us have looked long and hard to find racks capable of housing the Emotiva product line. I think it would be a great addition and would enable customers to buy appropriate sized racks at the time they place an order for other Emotiva gear -- one stop shopping.
