"I want to point out one issue relating to HDMI. The UMC-1 is designed to automatically associate the selected HDMI input audio and video feeds together . This is not a defect or a bug. You cannot ask for audio from the HDMI stream and video from another source. This is not a valid selection." - Big Dan
Does the quote above from one of Dan's post meand that I cannot run audio from my squeezebox...hooked up via optical or analog....and watch the video being fed via HDMI from my PS3 or television?
I play games or have the tv video on while I listen to music.
I know I can work around this if it is a problem by adding more cables but I am trying to use HDMI to reduce cables.

From that quote of Dan, it sounds like that wont be a problem. Only trying to get audio only from HDMI and use another HDMI or analog video inputs for your video signal.

My system incorporates an AppleTV, which is often my music source. I often like to listen to the music with a sports event showing on my monitor. Would the strategy for that be to use component video and composite audio from the TV to the UMC-1 so that I could select them separately? I assume I could still use HDMI to feed the monitor with video with the audio being separate from the UMC-1 to the poweramp/SW. Am I clear?

I could be horribly wrong here but I think if the HDMI is hooked up on TV the rest of the outputs disable - certainly the video ones, possibly the audio ones too, but it may depend on the TV source playing
