what class would yo say the swans are in..compared to another high end speaker...paradigm monitor series or studio series Honestly, its to hard to put a "class" on a speaker. To many people have different opinions of speakers being good or bad. Its not very often you find a speaker that performs leaps and bounds better than what its priced at these days. But that is just my opinion.

I have swan d2.1se, 5.1 and 4.1. The d2.1se are the best of the bunch. The 5.1 are good for HT and the 4.1 for HT or music. I understand the 6.1 are even better for music. If I had to do it again, I would just buy 5 d2.1se for a 5.0 system (even though they are bookshelf speakers). You can always add a sub for the very low end.

Supposedly this month Swans will be releasing the D2.1se center and surround models to go with the originals. According to Jon Lane at The Audio Insider, his preference is to use the actual center channel speaker instead of another D2.1SE. No prices have been mentioned, however.

The Swans will likely be brighter than the Paradigms. There are some towers out there that will deliver good bass, but for chest pounding, you can't beat a good sub. It is key for any good HT system. The swans are not brighter than the paradigms. I thought they were. Paradigms seem to have overpowering mids to me. I remember once that I told you I hear some Paradigms and they sounded bright to me. You thought I was crazy.

I remember once that I told you I hear some Paradigms and they sounded bright to me. You thought I was crazy. Yeah and there is also a few different lines from Paradigm... The Studios and Sigs are not bright to me but they are to some people. The Monitor line however like the OP stated he has (monitor 9's) are quite a bit more in your face than the Studios or Sigs and to me are very bright....The Monitors are a lot brighter sounding than the Swans, IMO. Also haven't you only heard the 5.1? Well it is known to be a bit more in your face. The 6.1 is a bit more laid back according to a lot of individuals and that is why its recommended for Music use and the 5.1 for HT use. P.S- I just heard the FUNNIEST voicemail from you when you walked home from the Tin Can. hahahaha oh god...
