I currently have a set of Rocket RSS-300 (DiPole I think) that while a good speaker they never seemed to give what I would call good surround effect. Now have to keep in mind that the room they were in was far from a good theater set up. Now I have a dedicated theater and the proper set-up to get great suround sound.
I am wondering if the ERD with its front facing driver will give more of a direct radiating speaker sound that might be what I am looking for. Does any one have these in a 14'-6" x 22' room in a 7.1 setup that think they are "enough" speaker, they do have one less drive then my RSS-300's.
I need 4 suurond speakers and only have 2 RSS-300's. So rather then getting 2 used RSS's I was thinking of starting over with ERD-1's

My room is 17 x 12 x 7 and 4 ERDs work just fine for me.

I find in "bi-pole" they have a lovely balance between direct/diffuse, it's almost like they are mind-readers. ;-)
I'm exaggerating a little, but I think you will be very impressed and my room is awful (arch way to another room at the rear, corners with different depths, angled wall etc.)

I can't comment on the speakers you have... but I will say the ERD-1s are awesome. I have sides as dipoles, and rears as bipoles. The sound is completely enveloping - everything sounds exactly as you'd expect. Detailed when it needs to be, yet diffuse and room filling when it needs to be. They really are great surround speakers (imo). You can see 3 of the 4 in one of these pics
