Apologies in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere - I did a search and came up empty ...
Has anyone had a chance to compare the UMC-1 to the MMC-1 in terms of sound quality? I understand that the UMC is more up to date, can handle the HD audio formats, etc., but how would it compare in the SQ department?
I have the MMC and it is a nice sounding unit - am looking to "upgrade" to the UMC to get the new formats, but am curious if I will be sacrificing anything with regards to SQ.

According to Lonnie, the UMC-1 has better SQ (analog and digital) that any of their previous Pre/Pro models. You may be too new to the Lounge to know that Lonnie calls them as they are. He frequently recommends solutions that would end up bring less profit to Emotiva. He advises what is best for the customer -- a real "straight shooter". ;D I have spent hours listening to music on both units, though not head-to-head, and I would have to say the UMC-1 is a step up in SQ. Both of these units produce extraordinary SQ. I can safely say that if you like the sound of your MMC-1, you will love the UMC-1's SQ. After the time I have spent listening to both units, I fully agree with Lonnie's assessment. ;D

I won't do any butt kissing , but I will tell you that the UMC is definitely a notch or so better than the MMC. I've had both as well as an LMC-1. Everything, but most importantly the sound quality is better than the previous generation processors. Even with the minor glitches that upcoming firmware will eliminate, the quality of sound is there. No questions.

Yay! I got the email yesterday - my unit is expected to ship out on March 27th!
Couldn't be better timing - I'm doing some renovations to my theater room (moving equipment out, building a cabinet, etc), so everything is disconnected. Now I just need to move the project a bit slower than planned till the UMC gets here!
