Does anyone in Canada have a UMC -1 yet? (other than the unhappy guy who was trying to sell his). Any comments on performance, use, set-up etc would be appreciated--so far all I have read about it are the issues being sorted out at factory, or did I miss any customer reviews on the site? Thanks

I don't think there is any difference in the ears from the Americans or the Canadians, unless there is something I ain't aware just yet. The performance and setup should be the exact same. * Is that makes any sense at all, coming from a Canadian?

Guess you are confused? I am just looking for some recent feedback on this product, has anyone in Canada(or USA) received and tried one out since the initial problems were resolved ans shipments resumed?

Well hold up now ... Seeing as we're at a higher altitude way up north here in Canada . It would make sense that the set up would be different due to the thinner air at these higher altitudes ! Hence sound would travel with less resistance, there by requiring some tweeking in the Canadian UMC-1's

I guess no one yet in Canada cares to share their experience. BTW, getting feedback from a Canadian is relevant because the shipping procedure and cost is also part of the picture. I had my XPA-3 shipped to a border store state side and picked it up myself. All I had to pay was GST/PST and the $25 shipping. Saved a significant amount over shipping to my door in Abbotsford.

Living just north of Brampton, I am wanting to hear both reviews and how you got the pre to your home. It has always ticked me off with the extra border charges that UPS and FEDEX charge.

Outside taxes, Fedex has never charged me much. UPS is a different story. Stay far, far, away from them.

Fed Ex doesnt charge you on the spot, they send a bill in the mail a couple of weeks later.

I received my UMC-1 on Monday. Hooked her up, configured the inputs, positioned the included mic atop the shipping box propped up on my couch leaning a bit towards the main speakers (front of room), ran Emo-Q, and all is good. Obviously, I still have loads of tweaking and playing around to do in the coming weeks but I am up and running very easily, without issue. Actually, the most difficult issue was getting Logitech to add the discrete hex codes to my Harmony remote setup to allow for direct input selection. Other than that, I'm a happy camper.

^ So now, what's going to happen with your older LMC-1? * Glad you're a happy camper with your new UMC-1.

Good thesis topic

I know that there are 2 in calgary. But I don't know the guys personally. They've posted somewhere in the "eh" section here that they've got them... might be able to trade a case of Pil for a demo session.

Via Fedex my XPA5 came to just under a grand with exchange on a 0.85 canadian dollar with all the charges included... for me is was worth it because I sure wasn't going to drive to Montana. But from Abbotsford, thats a quicky into Blaine... definate saving potential... AND pull-tabs!
