Have you checked to see if there is a newer firm ware release available for your Optoma projector? The UMC-1 is up to spec for all the recent changes in the HDMI arena. There have been some significant changes in HDMI regulations in the last few months. It is possible that the HDMI in your Optoma was able to perform flawless handshakes with your previous pre/pro and not work with the UMC-1 simply due the changes HDMI has forced upon the manufacturers. This may require FW updates on all of your current gear to function properly.
Hopefully, this is the root cause of your trouble as it can be resolved without having to return the UMC-1 for repair. Also, did you double check that your projector is still able to display a picture from your Blu-ray player when connected directly to the projector (bypassing the UMC)? Good luck.

Also, did you double check that your projector is still able to display a picture from your Blu-ray player when connected directly to the projector (bypassing the UMC)? Good luck. Roadrunner, I talked to Optoma Tuesday night before I even called Emotiva just to check if the projector could still be "searching" for the device it was hooked to before (which was the bluray player). They said that if it shows "no signal" than its simply not getting a signal, as it should lock on to any incoming signal automatically. They didn't say anything about firmware, but I didn't ask about that specifically so I guess I should probably look into that (thanks for the suggestion). I did try going back to going strait from the Bluray to the projector, and the projector locked on to the signal right away. So the problem involves the UMC in some way for sure. Whether the UMC is really defective or if the problem is caused somehow between the interaction of the UMC, HDMI, and the projector, I do not know. What I do know is that it is going to be a real pain in the a** if I have to totally disconnect my UMC and send it back to the company. I'm hoping that like Alhull's UMC, mine will randomly start working when I try it tonight.
