Looking at the umc pics it appears the set up mic is on the back only and not on the front. They didn't really do this did they? I am on the list for the xmc-1 and it appears they are going to do the same thing on it. Does anyone know if this has changed? I can not come up with any reason why it would be on the back except for looks. My entertainment center is 8 ft wide and over 6 ft tall. I have to move the entire thing out to get to the back of the equipment. Am I the only one with this problem? I can't see anyone not buying from emotiva because the mic input is on the front but I can certainly see people not buying it because it simply isn't functional on the back. To me if I can't get to it to use it it's not functional. It seems a lot of the xmc threads are either burried or have been removed so sorry if this has already been covered.

I know I thought it was ode also , but someone here pointed out that one could buy a mice extension cable hooked up to the back lead it up to the front some where inconspicious and when ever you need the mice hook it up to that and your good to go

Well wouldnt you have to pull it out anyways when you are putting it IN your entertainment center?? Why not just calibrate it then?

My entertainment center is pretty big, as well. I ran a mic extension & a usb cable to the front.

I plan the same - a short USB extension (to keep the distance for it to a minimum) and whatever works 3.5mm extension for the mic. Not too big of a deal.
That said, for the XMC, a neat, centred flap with calibration mic, USB, network, HDMI, optical coax digital and a set of analogues on the front would be nice.
