Hi,
I just got my UMC-1 yesterday and things are going swimmingly! Sound and video quality is beyond top notch!
I had a small request for the next firmware update.
It would seem that when one presses the mute button that the Mute OSD remains on screen continuously even if the pop up OSD setting is off. I understand this from a user stand point but I am slightly worried about burn-in since I have a Plasma display. Could the mute OSD be made to move around a bit or can it be hidden to avoid problems?
Thanks.

I agree that is a concern. I know my plasma has a setting that moves the pixels to avoid this problem and it must work as I haven't had any burn in after 2 years and plenty of gaming.
You might see if you have that option, for those who don't, I think this is a great idea. If it vanished after XX seconds and became visible again when you hit any controls would be perfect.

Gee, why not unmute and turn the volume all the way down?

You have a new Panny G10...you'd have to mute for a pretty long time to cause any burn-in...
really..its a non-issue..

New plasmas don't have burn in and they haven't had it for at least 4-5 years minimum. They will however get some forms of image retention but that is even few and far between and usually doesn't last for any amount of time. I'f your getting bad IR then your setting are way out to lunch. I have a 6 year old hitachi plasma in my bedroom and on purpose left it on for a full week on the screen that is on when a channel is not being broadcast on a bet (the 6 big color bars) after a 5 minute screen wipe, the IR was gone and the tv is perfectly fine (also got me $100) every plasma in the last number of years has some sort of pixel shift tech the will prevent burn-in.
