I have a call into Emo, but they are pretty busy obviously so I thought I would ask one question here.
I have the trigger wire hooked from the UMC to the XPA-5. On my 5 inputs that I am using, ALL of them are set to "AMP 1 ON". I have checked that 1000x. However, on two of my inputs, Aux 1 and Aux 2 (renamed PS3 and Xbox 360) the XPA turns off. The amp turns on with all other inputs and stays on, turns off when the UMC is turned off. But if I ever switch to PS3 or Xbox the amp turns off immediately.
Anybody else notice this? What could be causing this? Isnt there a way to just have it turn on Amp 1 whenever the UMC is on and turn it off when the UMC is off, regardless of inputs?

If the amp one ON is set for all your inputs but it turns off if you select some of them, then there could be a problem in the UMC-1. I suggest first setting every input you have to "on" and making sure this is so, and if it is still doing this then you should call Emotiva in the morning as you could have an issue that requires a return.

Do a factory reset and set it up again it should work then.

You don't happen to have HDMI AND component cables hooked up to the UMC-1 do you? When I had both types of cables going from the UMC-1 to my TV, the UMC-1 would turn off my XPA-5 every time I turned on my Samsung Blu-ray player. I have no explanation for it, but when I disconnected the component cables, the amp triggered correctly.

Mine did that too earlier as I have components hooked up too.

Mine did that too earlier as I have components hooked up too. Negative, no component cables hooked up. But even if I didn't isn't that a fatal flaw? Have you called Emo about that?

Do a factory reset and set it up again it should work then. Why should I have to factory reset it? It just came from the factory 6 hours ago? All I did was name and assign inputs.

I know you checked that the trigger for Amp 1 is set to one, but double check that On is selected and amber. I did the same thing and when I double checked it was indeed off. If that's not the case, double check that your trigger wire is firmly connected. When I connected my trigger wire, any input for that matter, I made sure that both the components were off by turning them off via the rear panel power button.

I have both Component (from Dish STB), and HDMI (all other sources), hooked up and I haven't had a problem with my amp trigger. Now I did have an issue where I swore I turned on the trigger for all the inputs (that I was using), but turns out I hadn't.

I believe you have the same issue as I had. Read how I solved the issue here: emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=preamps&thread=8890I still think it's silly that triggers are all disabled by default. I'd leave them enabled for all inputs by default, and have only the people who need finer control than "Preamp on = Amp(s) on" have to change configuration.
