Notice my back right and back left are grayed out? Emo-q set the backs to none, which is correct because I do not have back speakers. However, it set the non existent back right to -10 db. This of course does not in any way affect the sound, but it does shake my confidence in emo-q. Add in some of the other small issues I'm having, and the fun of owning a new piece of "entertainment" hardware is all but gone. Thats all.... sorry for the post.

It's doing that to several people and has been mentioned before, but we have yet to hear a reason as to why from emotiva.

Have you called emo to find out what grayed out means? Seems to me it means...not found...so why be concerned? Ask them for sure...

That's my concern as well. If it is giving settings for non existent speakers than are the setting for the other speakers actually correct?

I have a question, does it sound worse or better with eq? Much worse with eq. However, that is mostly due to the crazy settings its applying for the sub. After making some changes to the gains and crossovers, it sounds better. But honestly...your better off starting from scratch (without) emo-q.

When I ran the eq, I had the same weird x-over issues, I manually changed them to something more reasonable (90 hz). Then went into the eq and lowered the boost to the main channels (below the crossover), and the boost to the sub (above the crossover).
It really does make one wonder about the settings for speakers that don't exist. I too had a boost on one rear channel (that I don't have), and I had a reduction on the other one (that I don't have).
The first speaker test showed "none", but then why is it trying to Eq something that isn't even there?
I have noticed that my sub is better then its ever been (I don't know if that's possible, so I guess the EQ of the sub does do something). I put on the new Star Trek, just to try the Dolby THD, and I ended up watching the whole movie again. ;D

It gave me that once, the exact same thing , greyed out with -10hz.. But I ran my Emoq again, and it was gone.. Make sure you dont have anything near the mic( i had a huge pillow on the floor which when taken away made a diff), be as quiet as possible and run it again. Ive ran my emoq 3 times, and on the 3rd , everything is perfect..I did do some tweaking, like putting 80hz instead of 120..distance was spot on!... remember, emoq is a tool. I am happy with my emoq settings, It gives me, a noob, with something to begin with and then I just use my ear to tweak it out. The firmware In my opinion fixed alot for me, especially the SOUND..It sounds way more clearer. To even think another firmware will be released..wow I love firmware, Im an old school pc geek, and when new firmware would be announced, lets say for a video card, I couldnt wait to dl it. It was like buying a new graphic card, the difference you would notice, was night and day.. Same thing occured with Emotivas Firmware fix. love IT!

The problem with writing software is that bugs happen. I guess this is one of them, but expect Emotiva to fix with future firmwares. Emo-q is brand new, so I guess it needs some more tweaking...
Don't let it get to you, just be patient for a bit longer...
