I have the 8300HDC cable box/DVR from Time Warner cable with ODN 3.1.3_3 . HDMI lock seems solid so far on pause, FF and RW. However, when the box is paused and goes into screensaver, the UMC locks up. It would accept no commands, including power off, and I had to do a reset at the back switch. I've seen this issue posted elsewhere by at least one other user, but I can't find the other post on a search.

My cable provider is: Cablevision, Long Island, New York. My DVR does not have a mode that brings up a screensaver so that leads me to believe your SA 8300 HD is operating with a different operating system/software than mine. So I do not think I can help you with the screensaver lockups.
My SA 8300 HD will randomly crash my UMC-1 when switching channels while watching cable television. It is very random and not repeatable, however it will happen once every 30 or so channel changes. I do not reboot my UMC-1 by doing a reset at the back switch. It is inconvenient to get to the back of the UMC-1 in my setup. I hold down the front power button for about 5 to 10 seconds and the UMC-1 then shuts down. The UMC-1 then powers up normally via the front power button or remote. Less hassle for me.
I am generally very happy with the UMC-1 despite these and other issues (in my line of work I am used to "workarounds" and software/hardware/firmware foibles) and I am hoping further firmware updates will correct all or some of these operating glitches.
