My budget will allow for a pair of PSB T-45's from DMC or Saturday Audio. I have read great things about these speakers and heard some about a week ago and really liked them.
But I noticed a couple pairs of ERM-1's on Audiogon for a great price and got to thinking that I could do those (I already have stands) and a Hsu STF-2 for around the same price.
I read the few reviews of these speakers here and am intrigued. Anyone else have experience with the ERM-1's? Whish way to go? As always, I'm after bang for the buck.

I have a pair of ERM1s in my office and love them (mated up with a sub). Can't compare them to your PSB option though - haven't heard those.

What are you using the setup for (HT? Music? Both?). What is the size of your room?

ERM's plus a sub without question, regardless of room size or HT use or not. Allows for better amplification(the amp is offloaded from bass duties), can place the monitors in the optimal location for best imaging, and the sub can also be placed in its optimal position for best in room bass response.

I love my ERM-1s (LCR), they replaced infinity primus 360s. They'll most likely go into my dedicated HT, and I'll put the infinities back in the living room. Unless I decide to upgrade. ;D

Room is 13'x16', two openings left wall, stairwell at rear. Use will be 80% music, 20% HT, but these will also serve as sound for the TV pretty much 24/7. I can only budget for pre/pro, amp, and front mains right now. I just picked up a mint MMC-1 and plan on buying a UPA-1 for power. With the great deal on the ERM-1's, I could swing the sub too.
Decisions, decisions. Being a 4 ohm speaker, the UPA-5 (185 wpc @ 4 ohm) should light them up pretty good. I like music loud.

You know, the more bookshelf speaker setups I hear, the more I'm liking them. Towers are great, but if it's a smaller room, and especially if placement is a concern, then bookshelves are the way to go IMO. I used to believe that towers are the only way to go, and that bookshelf speakers are inferior. Until I heard a good set of monitor's with a decent sub.

Superior monitors and a superior sub or subs will always trump a high end tower. Just too many advantages to monitors and dedicated subs over full range towers..........

I have 3ea of the ERM-1's and 2ea of the ERD-1's in my 5.1 HT system. When I do play them in 2.1 with my Outlaw sub they sound great and plenty loud without any sign of stress from my XPA-5 in a 13 x 37 x 8.5 room. ;D

I also have 3 ERM-1 speakers across the front and the ERD-1 for my surrounds. IMHO the ERM-1 speakers are the biggest bargain in all of A/V. Their bang for the buck ratio is through the ceiling. Combine the Emotiva speakers with my Infinity Interlude 12" sub and they produce an exceptionally accurate sound field with outstanding clarity, imaging and dynamic response -- far beyond what one should expect for the money spent.
The overall sound quality rivals that of speaker systems costing five times as much. When they were in production, I felt they were the best kept secret in Emotiva's product line. I would not hesitate in recommending them for use in any Home Theater.
Not only that, I like the way they look. ;D
PS Welcome "home" Chuckienut!

Bose is on the opposite end of the value ratio spectrum from the ERM-1 speakers. Actually, I borrowed the "value phrasing" from your copy of the Bose Salesman's Guide. ;D ;D ;D
